Best and worst resort

What resort that you have never stayed in would you like to book the most? And what resort would be your least favorite?

Mine would be the Wilderness lodge. I have always wanted to stay there. I love this theme and my wife has to drag me out each time we go there for Whispering Canyon. My least favorite would be the Boardwalk Resort. Only because of the negative guest interactions I have had there all three times we have gone to the boardwalk there.

Boardwalk scares me with that scary, evil clown slide. :shudder:

I think most of the resorts are great, but I particularly like the feel of AKL and Fort Wilderness. We always try to visit them even when we aren't staying there. The All-Star Movies was probably my least favorite, but it wasn't bad at all.

I would love to stay at Grand Floridian one day. It's probably the closest to that "royalty" feeling for me. I would probably be ok with never staying at Saratoga Springs. It looks nice and all, but activity and entertainment seems very sparse to me. Also not a huge Downtown Disney visitor, so that proximity factor doesn't do much for me.

Saratoga does seem odd to me I dont know why. I would never stay there unless it was free. I dont have to stay at any of the MK or Epcot resorts. but I would love to stay at AKL. That is probably as close to actually going to Africa as I can get.

I have enjoyed all the resorts I have stayed in, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian and Port Orleans Riverside, when it was Dixie landing. Of those mentioned I would say I enjoyed the Polynesian the least. At the times the quest rooms and the GCH really needed a face lift and some TLC. Now that they are getting it I would love to try the "Poly" again.

My Favorite resort would be Animal Kingdom Lodge. Great themeing throughout.

My least favorite resort is the Yacht club ... the theme does nothing for me. I find I like the themeing of the All stars much more than the Yacht. That said ..I've never been to the Yacht club and it may be a great resort but the themeing is not enticing at all.

I REALLY want to book a stay at the Contemporary, particularly in a tower room facing Magic Kingdom. To me, that would just be the best location anywhere on property. As of yet, it hasn't happened....but I'm hopeful.

My least favorite would probably be any of the value resorts. Disney has done a wonderful job in theming them, however I prefer to be in a room that's within the resort building, and not one with a door that opens and you're immediately outside.....like some cheap motel. I don't like the walking distances in the value (or moderate for that matter) resorts or the wait with the internal bus system. I also don't like how very cheap the rooms themselves look and feel.

Only one I haven't stayed at that piques my interest would be the Poly when it's all done & refurbished. The contemporary doesn't move the needle for me.

I've always wanted to stay at the Polynesian -- I love its tropical beauty and kitschy retro vibe -- but I've never stayed there because I will never be able to justify the price, even at a discount.

My least favorite resort would be Saratoga Springs, because its Upstate NY theme is literally too "close to home" to be interesting to an Upstate New Yorker.

I agree with the "close to home" factor. We live in south jersey so I have no desire to stay at any beach or nautical theme resort.

As a child, I thought only the richest of people stayed at the Grand Floridian. (I think the same thing today too.) I would love to stay there and be in the monorail loop.

The best I have stayed at is the Coronado Springs with the Polynesian in a close 2nd!
As for the worst the award goes to the All Star Music! NEVER AGAIN!

Best resort I think is Wilderness Lodge- I can't wait to actually stay there! Best I've actually stayed at is Coronado. I would never stay at ASSports because I don't like sports, so I would say theme-wise that would be my least favorite. But I don't think any of them would really be "worst", Disney does a pretty good job.

I am still fighting with my 16 year old about that clown. She WILL slide down that slide next week!

Going by where I have stayed...

Best - Port Orleans French Quarter & Riverside closely behind
Worst- All Star Sports and I am a sports lover! I loved it when I was younger but now I don't care for it.

Where I'd love to stay- Boardwalk or Beach Club
Where I wouldn't want to stay- Saratoga Springs Resort

Well now over the long years I have stayed

Camped at Ft Wilderness
CBR
PO (before it split)
ASSp
ASMu
ASMo
Pop
SSR
OKW
BC
Dolphin
Hilton Bonnet Creek
Contemporary garden wing
Contemporary tower MK view
Polynesian (again in 5 days!)

Best? Contemporary tower MK view. No question. I've had the luck of staying 3 times in that room category!

Worst? ASSp - but I that was back in the 90's so it may not be the same.

Where I'd love to stay- Polynesian (not during the construction obviously! ;))
Where I wouldn't want to stay- Grand Floridian. I know it is silly, but I never feel like I am dressed up enough when I am there, and that is just when we go to eat or see the resort. I wouldn't want to feel that way for an entire vacation!

A lot of pluses and minuses for me for all the resorts. Hard to pick a favorite but we are mostly Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge people. I admit that both of those places have transportation issues (distance for AKL and a lot of bus sharing for WL)

At the bottom of my list would be places like Coronado Springs, Fort Wilderness and Caribbean Beach Resort because they are so huge they are exhausting. For me, any trip to the resort is for relaxation and enjoyment of facilities. I don't need another hike to get where I want to go.

Don't let the attire get you down or worry. Unless you're going to eat at V&A it doesn't matter how you're dressed. Money spends the same no matter the wallet or purse it came from.
