Bale is a crazy method actor and can pull that stuff off. Ben Affleck always comes off as Ben Affleck, except in this movie it will be Ben Affleck with laryngitis.

I am good with the choice. I have always had a hard time criticizing an actor's performance that has not happened yet. As it has been pointed out, the internet did not react well to Heath Ledger being cast as the Joker and he produced arguably the best performance in any comic based movie to date.

To that point...

The reaction to Michael Keaton as Batman was outrage. And look how great that turned out. Afleck will make a very good Bruce Wayne, and that's 80% of the battle here.

Batman is my number 1 super hero so I know I can be a bit overly critical but this just has "Well lets just re-boot the whole dang thing again." after this releases written all over it. It just seems that this is a knee-jerk reaction to what marvel is doing by getting a big name actor instead of someone who is perfect for the part.

I am rather indifferent on Ben's acting ability. I like him is some stuff, not so much in others. I am in a wait and see mode on this one.

When it comes to casting for this role, I really can't see a great front runner. There are a few who I think would make a good Wayne or Batman, but not one who would make a good Wayne and Batman.

Thats why I think they should have gone a little off the radar like they did with superman. Why force something just for the sake of it? I agree with the wait and see approach, I've been wrong with these kind of things many times before. I guess I really just want the same cohesiveness that we have seen from Marvel, and maybe that's just too much to ask.

Bale did a good job of both (imo). His Batman was a little over the top with the excessive growling voice. But other than that, I thought he nailed the role. Sad to see him not continue.
