We did it in December and it was awesome! I don't even have any interest in gardening, I just like going behind the scenes!

In addition to learning about the plants and greenhouses, the tour also gives you the very cool opportunity to walk along a ride path and see what a ride path looks like from a cast member's perspective.

[now the part where MarkTwain invariably floods the thread with marginally-related photos]

Here are some photos from the tour I took:

Yep, it depends what they have available, but they do have samples.

You will also either release ladybugs or parasitic wasps as a pest control measure.

you also get to feed the Tilapia in the aquaculture tank.

I think I have gone on the tour 4 times. Most of the tour guides are college students who are majoring in an agriculture related topic or in a botany related topic - as opposed to "Disney type" tour guides. So while they may not be able to tell you what Walt's favorite vegetable was, they can answer a load of technical questions.

Wasps? Yikes! I hope I get the lady bugs. Hooray samples! Thanks for the valuable response.

Woah! Those are neat pictures! Thank you for sharing! Off topic, what kind of camera do you use?

Agree with all of the above - a great tour and you will enjoy it.

Get to see so many interesting things, learn new info, see the room where the Mickey pumpkins became self aware and tortured those poor....um....I've said too much already.

Just go. You'll love it.

(Avoid the pumpkins.)

Why am I avoiding the pumpkins?

I was never really interested in this tour until our last trip in October. My bf LOVED the Living with the Land boat ride and when I told him they had a behind the scenes tour he seemed interested in it. Planning a trip in December, I didn't realized it was so cheap, might have to add this to my to do list.

Thanks

They are just little parasitic wasps. They don't sting. They attack aphids I believe.

One of the times I went was when the ride was down for re-furb about 2 years ago (If I recall). The ride was closed but the tour was operating. They had bridges up across the ride canal. The tour guide said it made life so much easier to be able to walk over the canal as opposed to have to walk all the way around.
