Behind the scenes at La Nouba

As I've probably mentioned a hundred times on here, I'm a big La Nouba fan. In fact I even proposed to my wife during a meal we had on the way to see the show and can still see her playing with and looking at her engagement ring throughout that night's performance.

Anyway enough of that nonsense, I was looking at Cirque and La Nouba on youtube and found this which I hope will interest some of you. It's lots of rehearsal and backstage footage from before the show had opened. It's interesting to see how it evolved and how much hard work over many long hours went into it with a lot of blood, sweat and tears along the way. Some of the performers have since left whilst some are still there, albeit a little older. So hopefully you'll enjoy watching this as much as I did.

Great find! Like you, La Nouba is one of my favorite Cirque shows and a must do every trip. Lovely to see how much the show has evolved in the 17 years since it first premiered.

I've seen it about 10 times now and it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when the music starts. We got front row seats the other year and were right in front of one of the stage lifts on the right hand side. It was really quite different watching it from there and very personal. Some of the characters even acknowledged us with a nod or a smile as they exited or entered the stage due to our position and proximity

You may also enjoy this where the performers come outside the theatre to entertain

I sat two rows from the stage the last time I saw the show in 2013, and you're right, that is a much different perspective! Very intimate and I actually was able to "take in" the atmosphere of the show more.

I really miss Felix and his balancing chair act, a truly incredible performance.

We arrange to get seats every time we go to WDW. Its one of our trip highlights. The show is always exciting, even though we've seen it many times it still continues to thrill us. Now that they offer the Backstage La Nouba tour, I'd love to do it one day.

I don't understand why they don't update the show and make it Disney themed. Much like the Beatles/Michael Jackson ones in Vegas. I think it could really be unique and make it fresh again.

Because that would be utterly atrocious. They just added both a new clown duo and a new rola-bola act into the show last year. You could also count the arrival of a new female singer as an addition, since she gives her own interpretation of the lyrics. But, most importantly the show is one of the few remaining Dragone shows; it would be a shame to see it closed for a Disney themed spectacle.

I agree. It's based in Disney but for me that's where the connection should remain. It has a great story already (though many miss this) and great costuming and music. Trying to shoehorn Disney into it would be a big mistake, it has it's own identity and that's how it should stay in my opinion.

If Cirque ever decided to pull out of Disney then I'd imagine that Disney would perhaps put their own show in there, however I really hope this never happens and La Nouba continues for many years and evolves slowly and at it's own pace.

Because there is enough self reference being shoved into the parks. The Walt Disney World experience should be more than just the same images regurgitated over again from other outlets. It should be unique and different, something the wonderful La Nouba provides. It is classic Disney.
