Before Sounds Dangerous

How many of you preferred the original sound show that starred Martin Short? (The one where members of the audience got to add the sound effects to the movie.) While the current Drew Carey show is mildly entertaining (IMO), I found the old show much more educational besides being much more fun.

I liked it the most when it was Superstar Television...I got to be David Letterman's companion dude. My line was: "Hey Dave, can't you ever do anything with a trukey, gobble, gobble, gobble!" Lol. I was sooooooo embaressed.

Anyway, I never got to see Sounds Dangerous or the other one. I heard they weren't that good.

Superstar Television was in a different theater. When the Disney MGM Studios opened in 1989, it had two shows next door to each other. Superstar Television (currently Get Happy With ABC, and then vacant again), and the Monster Sound Show (currently Sounds Dangerous). The Monster Sound Show allowed guests to watch a short film starring Martin Short and Chevy Chase. Chevy Chase was a traveling salesman trying to sell something to Martin Short (a Hunchback/Mr. Hyde type person). Throughout the film, Martin Short tried to kill Chevy Chase. Then, the guests (usually adults) get to re-record the sound effects for the movie and finally, the movie is replayed with the guests sometimes off cue sound effects. Very Enjoyable.

I am not sure of the date, but the Monster Sound Show closed and was replaced by One Saturday Morning. This show, similar to the Monster Sound Show, featured cartoons from Saturday Morning in which parents and children could re-record sound effects for a cartoon (101 Dalmatians, Saturday Morning version).

That show was replaced a few years ago by Sounds Dangerous, Starring Drew Carey. It is funny, but there is no longer that audience participation.

Superstar Television closed while Sounds Dangerous was still One Saturday Morning. It was replaced by Doug Live! That show closed last year and the building remained vacant (except for a few specials) as the ABC Theater. The building currenty houses Get Happy With ABC, Disney's way to bring the new fall line-up into the parks to try and boost raitings. It will close later this month.
