How far away do we have to go from All Star Music Resort? My brother wants to know, I dont drink and he knows I use these sites and stuff. Anyone have a guess on how much a cab ride will cost?

Not suite sure what you're asking... Are you asking how far away a regular beer/liquor store is from the All-Stars? If so, there's probably one on 192, which would be 10 minutes or less via taxi.

There's also a bar there at the All-Stars, and you can purchase 6-packs in the gift shop. They're more expensive, but if you're taking a taxi just to get a couple 6-packs, it still might be cheaper to buy the marked-up beer in the hotel store.

You can get beer and wine in grocery stores in florida. Goodings at the Crossroads is closest, but there are several Publix stores (Publixes? Publices?) very close and likely cheaper. I'm not sure if you can get hard liquor in the grocery stores.

If he is just looking for a drink there is a bar at every resort on property including the values. Alcohol is also available in the gift shop. If you are looking for a slightly less expensive route your closest place would be one of the 3 Hess stations on property.

you can call gardengrocer.com and have alcohol delivered to your hotel ( I have been told this is possible haven't tried it myself )

If it works it will be easier than trying to leave and find beer yourself.

GOOD LUCK

(we always use a car service with a grocery stop to get ours)

Ah, a good ol' fellow yinzer!! I knew you were from PA when you mentioned "Beer Distributor".

Goodings will be your closest place. Remember, some other states "allow" grocery stores, and *gasp* gas stations to sell beer and such.

Gotta love the PLCB and their antiquated laws. Oh, and the taxes. Go Dan O!.

Cheers,

Dave

Eh, I don't think anything is as odd as New York State, where beer and liquor cannot be sold in the same store. So you see beer in the grocery stores, and then right next door is a liquor store for the liquor and wine...

Well, then there's New Hampshire where all the liquor stores are state-run. (Though beer can be had in just about any store, including gas stations and convenience stores like in Florida)

Here in Massachusetts we have stores that sell beer, liquor and wine all in one place. Some grocery and convenience stores sell beer and wine, but I've only ever seen *one* grocery store that sold liquor. (And that store closed down years ago)

Sorry Rob, PA's got NY beat. Here's the run down -

Liqour and Wine in State Run "Wine and Spirits" stores

Beer - two options 12 pack or less per trip through the door at "six pack shops", which must have a "beer only" license to get beer out the door. Option two is to purchase by the case only at Beer Distributiors. No limit. Oh, that's where you get kegs, too.

Taxes - 84% in PA. for instance, 30 pack of miller lite, $22.

So if I'm having a picnic, I have to go to the grocer for food, hit the beer distributor for a case, and then run to the liquor store to grab a bottle of wine or two, or Tequila for margaritas or whatever. Yeah, that takes up Saturday morning!

All I have to say is that at least we're not in WV, where you can only purchase beer that under 7%, but you can buy Everclear in the same store. . . .I don't get it. (at least it used to be that way)

Any rate - Cheers!

Depending on how much he plans to drink, you can get hard liquor at the resorts as well.

Why not just pack some with you in your checked luggage

From http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_1189.shtm

Carrying Alcohol In Your Checked Baggage
Please note, you can’t take alcoholic beverages with more than 70% alcohol content (140 proof), including 95% grain alcohol and 150 proof rum, in your checked luggage.
You may take up to five liters of alcohol with alcohol content between 24% and 70% per person as checked luggage if it’s packaged in a sealable bottle or flask.
Alcoholic beverages with less than 24% alcohol content are not subject to hazardous materials regulations.

I would decant it into a Nalgene bottle. Or if you buy spirits in a plastic bottle :( then you are allready good to go.

As people have said, Goodings is the closest store. But it is also really pricey. Not too far away from Goodings is an ABC Liquor Store that will most likely be cheaper.
