Bed bugs at the Poly?

Thanks for the reply’s. After having a not great experience at the Poly last year and not wanting to have to worry about anything else, we switched to the GF. We’ve stayed there many times before and have already had a great time. The nice thing is that our theme park room is only a little bit more than our pool/marina room st the Poly.

If you are changing to GF for other reasons that’s one thing but not if you are running from bedbugs. You are as likely to find those at GF as the Poly. Still check your room.

I’m a hotelier and can tell you that bedbugs come into most hotels on guests luggage and personal effects. If a bag sits next to an infested one anywhere during travel the bedbugs can get on that bage and come to the hotel. The guest before you or before that likely will have brought them. And yours could have picked them up so check your bags when you arrive at the hotel.

So, don’t fool yourself into thinking that by changing your hotel you have removed or reduced the risk. You still have to be concerned and check your room on arrival. What you really want is a hotel that does things right if they are found and there Disney is one of the best and at all of their hotels.

Not changing because of the possibility of bed bugs, changing because last year in March, I found the service poor, the decor dated, and much of the luster of the hotel had worn off since the change to DVC. We've stayed at the Grand many times and always had a wonderful time, so it is a given quantity of enjoyment, if you will. We were willing to give the Poly another chance, but as I like to remove as much risk as possible from my vacations, I didn't feel like spending the same amount of money to stay at the Poly, in a lesser room category, than we will at the Grand, and possibly have a worse time for it. I realize that the bed bugs can and probably have been everywhere, and we do check. The thread on the other board made it sound as if there was a bit more of an issue recently at the Poly.

Correct. My original issues had nothing to do with bed bugs. It was more to do with lack of service and amenities.

I would pick something else if you're original concern was about service and amenities. I don't believe the amenities have changed so that will still be an issue for you. Add the bed bug situation and that would do it for me. I'm sure there are other deluxe resorts that would have the amenities you're looking for. GF is probably a good choice but I don't think anyplace is safe from bed bugs. They can happen anywhere.
