Beast at BOG?!?!?!?!?

I heard that today too. I'm not thrilled about it. Even if it's just a photo op before being seated, I really think that the Magic Kingdom needs a nice meal that is not encumbered by characters. I was hoping this restaurant would appeal to an entirely different guest demographic.

Oh well, win some, lose some. We get beer and wine, but we also get the Beast.

I think that's kind of nice! Especially if he stays in the lobby area, we can eat without the character interruptions and still enjoy the Beast in his castle! Also, he wont be around the little kids when they are trying to eat. I remember my DD was really scared of him when she was little and ran away from him after waiting so long in the meet and greet line!

If true, that is great. I couldn't believe he wasn't going to be there. No Beast is just nuts. I want to meet the Beast and am happy to hear this. :)

I wonder if, in the future, one of the dining halls might be dedicated to character experience? It just seems a natural for this?

That is correct. It won't be a "character meal," just a photo op

I'm good as long as it's not a traditional character meal. I really like the idea of Beast greeting guests and having a photo op ... i.e. welcome to his castle ... but then have a fairly distraction free meal where you can soak in the neat environment. This has definitely added to my excitement...come on November!!! :D

That's a great idea! When you make the ADR's they could ask you what you prefer. We're not character people and my kids go to the restaurants at Disney for one thing......TO EAT!

I'll never forget when I was able to get ADR's at Cinderella's Castle for dinner and it was our first night there...we were all tired from the flight and it was a late reservation. We finally got our table after waiting another 45 minutes and my kids got their meals and then all the sudden the princessses starting to make their way around the room. Well, my 9 year old daughter, who was already really cranky at that point, turns to Cinderella when she arrived at our table and said, "not now, Cinderella, I'm just trying to have my dinner" as a chicken nugget is hanging out of her mouth. Cinderella was very nice and moved to the next table. So, from that point on, after quite a few similar instances at other character dining venues, we learned our lesson and choose dining without characters :)

I'm not sure, but I don't think that there will ever be characters in the dining room at Be Our Guest because of the beer and wine. When looking into having characters appear at our wedding, we were told we'd have to discontinue bar service while the characters were there. I don't think Disney wants them photographed while adult beverages are in view.

That could just be their rule for private events, though. I've never been to a character meal, so I have no idea whether any of the other restaurants that feature characters serve alcoholic beverages.

Wow. Poor Cindy (sounds like she handled it well)! I hear ya though; we have always enjoyed (and still do enjoy the character meals. It would be nice to have a venue that was multi-purpose.

You make a good point...I'm not sure if they allow booze at character dining.

I know they do for some of them. I was just looking at Allears and this is on the dinner menu at Akershus...

Viking Coffee - a robust combination of Columbian coffee, Kamora Coffee Liqueur and Bailey's Irish Cream $8.50

I'm almost positive we've also had beer at that meal. This site lists a fairly extensive beverage menu for that meal...

Maybe it's just b/c it's in the WS?
