Since when did they start doing ADRs for Beaches & Cream? That place is so small it's pointless. Can you still get walk-up seating?

This is my dad's favorite place to eat and they're arriving week after next. I don't want them to have any issues eating there.

I tried to walk in a couple of years ago and was told I needed a reservation. I would recommend you make them a reservation if possible to be on the safe side.

sometime between the time i went in oct 2013 and when i just booked now.
i thnk somewhere around december but i am not sure.

i actually like being able to book, we went twice and just couldn't wait the 2 hours they told us the wait was, and didn't get in. although i did get lucky at 10 o'clock at night once!

the only problem i see is that they did not make a big enough deal of it that even very well informed folks like you didn't realize the change over.
sorry that happened to you, but i had no trouble getting a reservation this week, although admittedly for oct 2014, but hopefully something is, or will become, available for you. they do still take walk ins but it's like any other disney table service- good luck getting one!!!

It was walk up when we were there in Sept 2013 and the wait was over an hour!! but it was a reservation seating when I was there in Jan 2014. They said because of how long the wait was becoming they decided to make is a reservation seating.

I would do it. Actually, I'm not completely against ADRs. The only way I can go there is if I sit down because of my food allergies. I have a strawberry allergy, and they use the same scooper in the vanilla that they use in the strawberry. Some places, like the gelato stand in Italy, I can just have them wash the scooper and all is well. For some reason here, I can't have them do that, so I have to have them open an entirely new thing of vanilla. Only way to request that is if I'm sitting down and the chef comes and caters. But I can never get in to sit down. Consequently, even though we own at BCV and stay there fore a week and a half every summer, I have not had Beaches and Cream Ice Cream in over five years. So no, I'm not against ADRs there. I just wonder if there's a way that they can expand it to accommodate more people, and then they can do like they do with Cape May, which is hold back a few tables for walk ups who stay at YC or BC (hint hint...at Cape May, they take walk ups if you are staying there!)

They started around the time when Disney made all ADRs pay $10 p/p for no shows. We got extremely lucky and were seated right away CHRISTMAS WEEK at 7pm at that! But that was pure luck. the place is usually packed.

Officially, the counter is reserved for walk-ups. However, from what I've seen, that's entirely dependent on the person working the podium- on occasion I've been told it's all reservations, and sometimes I've been told no reservations at the counter. Very inconsistent.

We stay at the beach club every trip. Seems like no matter when we try to get in it is always a 45 minute wait. Highly suggest getting reservations.

Interesting... the description in that picture doesn't match the description on the menu on WDW's website. I know for a fact it had more ice cream flavors listed:

"Scoops of Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Coffee, and Mint Chocolate Chip smothered in every topping we have"- from the WDW website.

Although, the price in the picture is off too ;)

The sight that I have the least confidence in is Disney's. They can't even keep their own calendar on their website up to date. (but likely it was a photo from prior to the April price increases that were expected after they went ADR's.)

During my trip this month: Scoops of Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Coffee, and Mint Chocolate Chip smothered in every topping they have

...New ice cream sundae container has debuted at Clarabelle's in Disney California Adventure. For $11.99, you can get your choice of five different three-scoop sundaes, served in a new plastic "sink" dish in the shape of Mickey's pants. This collectible container replaces the Red Car Trolley container offered since Clarabelle's opened.

DCA's new ice cream container looks like a sink, and comes filled with a three-scoop sundae. Photo by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix.
