Beach Club reopening?

I was just curious if anyone here has any information on when the Beach Club intends on reopening? I have read that it remains closed “until further notice” but I have no idea why that is or what that actually means. Any insight would be appreciated!

There is currently no reopening date and it will be determined by when Disney sees enough demand from guests to need the additional hotel space.

Thank you for that update. Wonder what that means for guests who have rooms reserved there for next year?

Don't cancel if you are going for sure or they wont accommodate, wait for them to reach out to you and that is when I hear they are much more accommodating

Makes sense. I’m surprised that one of the most popular resorts is closed for this reason. Then again, I guess all of the resorts are pretty popular.

Normal hotel occupancy tends to be a minimum 85%...they don’t tolerate empty rooms.

The demand for 35,000 or so rooms just simply isn’t there in these conditions

I know I’m asking you to just guess, but when would you suppose the demand goes back up? Not until a vaccine? Sooner than that?

If I had to guess:

It’s not a vaccine. It’s when certain conditions are met:

1. Occupancy restrictions are gone.
2. Hospital visits fall to what we see on level with seasonal viruses/infections
3. Some type of national policy is enacted - if for public opinion just as much as effectiveness
4. No “flares” for 6 months

But that doesn’t address economics. That’s the unknown. Since this is a Disney travel forum...a popular opinion will be that it “bounces back”...
But economic history is in complete disagreement with that. And Disney has ALREADY prepared for prolonged recession...they’re doing it every day and have been for months.

That all makes perfect sense. And depresses the hell out of me, lol!

Booked BC thru the wedding site for my niece’s 5/24/21 wedding and the entire block of rooms moved to YC by Disney. Not saying BC will still be closed but they had to guarantee enough rooms for us.

If you don’t mind me asking, did they make you switch to the YC for that week, or did you choose to switch just in order to make sure of availability? I ask because we have rooms booked at the BC for June and so far nobody from Disney has mentioned anything about us having to move.

I think they covered it...a wedding has a specific number of rooms associated with it in a convention block.
It appears that with the uncertainty of reopening...that block was moved to yacht as a precaution. Doesn’t necessarily mean beach won’t be open...but indicates they aren’t convinced it will be.

My two cents that I just posted in the AKL Jambo thread: I'm hoping that a few weeks after Labor Day weekend, when the numbers come in from that period (overlaid with school openings - which are 2 huge milestones for us to track), if we can be smart and make it through that with continuing positive news I think Disney will start to open up more as travel restrictions ease and travel confidence is restored a little more - certainly in time for the Holidays.

Now if it's "good news" I don't expect the return to normal - but I hope an increase in capacity and more TS locations (ie Sanaa, Ohana), and the TTC to EPCOT monorail by the end of the year.

In theory, we should have vaccine news with possibly many receiving injections, more advanced therapeutics readily available, and more hope on immunity if you have contracted it.
