Beach Club question

Hi All:

Yes, I did do a search, but I could not find this question answered anywhere, I hope someone can help.

We are Poly fans first of all--mostly because the property is small, and no matter what room you get, you are pretty much close to something--the TTC, GCH, or the beach/pool. When we stayed at AKL last year I was so disappointed because the walk to the room seemed like a mile (no exaggeration!). And the long walk was to the end of the building--there was nothing at all there! It was almost like being trapped at the end of a tunnel.

Anyway, are any of the rooms at the Beach Club very far away from any of the amenities? I really would like to try another resort, but I don't want to be disapointed again. I always request a room close to the lobby, but as you know that's not always guaranteed.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Christina

I love the Yacht/Beach clubs. There are so many things within 5-10 minutes walking distance from you: Beaches&Cream, two pools (both very well themed), multiple shops on ground level, the beach/sand/play area, International Gateway to Epcot, Boardwalk shops, Spoodles, ESPN Zone, Ferry to MGM, Jellyroll, bike & boat rentals,

*catches breath*

plus much more that I'm sure I've forgotten to mention.

It's a good choice.

Hi, I love beach club (BCV for me being DVC.) However we did stay at YC before we joined and were very lucky to get a room close by the lobby. (I was 32 weeks pregnant.) Having said that it was the nosiest and worst room we have ever had. Our neighboors were up yelling at 2:00 am, we had to call the frount desk on them. People were yelling in the halls (In Japanse no less) in the middle of the night. I think part of the problem was it was so close to the elevator. People got off from the bar and just keep acting like they were at the bar. That was very disapointing, but very well could of be isolated incidents (it could have to do with the convention that was there at the time.) I have much more tolerance for excited children then rude adults.

No problems like that at all at BCV.

When at YC we noticed some of the rooms were really far out and had a long walk, but was nothing compared to a mod resort.

BC seemed a bit more compact (and closer to Epcot), but father away from the boat launch to MGM (but still a short walk).

Beware, many of the balconies at BC are not full size, only room for one person to stand in. Don't pay more for a water veiw and then get stuck with that.

Try Y&B, we love it. It is our Fav resort in all of WDW.

But then again I liked ALK too and didn't feel that walk was too far. I guess it depends on your view.

Here is the absolute best map I've ever seen of the Beach Club. (Sorry, but I haven't been able to find similarly detailed maps of the other resorts)

I hope this helps.

PS--if you really want convenient, try the Wilderness Lodge. Everything is inside--very nice when you're trying to get a burger back to your room and it's raining.

Thank you everyone for the information. Thanks YellowShoes for the great maps!

This leads me to another question--the link that has the maps on it also lists the restaurants. My question is--is there a fast food area as they have in all of the other resorts? I don't see one listed here. I can't imagine a resort only having sit down service, with no counter service available.

Thanks!

Thank you! Does anyone happen to know the hours of the fast food area? I love the one at the Poly because it's open 24 hours a day.

Well I hope you enjoy your time at the Beach Club. We have stayed there as well as the Poly. Poly is our favorite. Just don't have the mindset that the place will be like the Poly because you will be disappointed. Our room was ground floor by the laundry room. A real hassle. The only plus was it was good when we did the laundry and walked to epcot. Its a hike to the pool and you have to show your room card just to get in. No the snack place is not like captain cooks. Its not a snack place at all, you can order the food to go. (Beaches and cream - hamburgers etc.) Also you cant get breakfast to go like at Captain Cooks. I would watch Hurricaine Hatties outside by the pool if it is open. I got very sick on a chicken sandwich there. It is also the only place to get the mug refilled. (Beaches and Cream). The childrens activities also seemed to be limited. The water sports are on par with the poly and the view of the epcot/boardwalk area and proximity to mgm is good also.

Unless things have changed you can refill your mug at any place that serves drinks (inculding sit down places, you just give them your mug and they fill it for you.) It is a little odd, but it works. (thats what we were told to do at YC in Feb 2001. You do not need to be eating at them. Also in the am the lobbys have little stands that you can get muffins and such at and refill mugs.

Hmmm...maybe I won't like the BC then. I shouldn't have stayed at the Poly I guess. It seems like I'm spoiled now and I don't like any other resort! :(

We have stayed at Poly and Y&B (YC and BCV) and while we loved Poly, we love BCV more. So it didn't spoil us. They both have things about them that are great. The pool at Y&B is many many times better then Poly. Y&B has 6 hot tubs total in the whole resort, Poly NONE (a major drawback for me.) We love Beaches and Cream, will eat there once every trip (even if we are not staying at BC) where as we are not going out of our way for captain cooks at Poly. There is a ton of other choices for food if you include BW and SD also. (and all of Epcot close by.) Monorail is nice, but you can walk to Epcot from BC and a short boat ride to MGM. The busses are good at Y&B also.

I recomend you try Y&B at least once. We think it is the best. (but then again BCV is a DVC resort and Poly isn't, so that might color our opinon.)
