Be Our Guest at 180 days

I haven’t eaten here in a couple years, so I was wondering, is it still tough to get a dinner reservation? Or is it more doable these days? I, of course, am talking about getting a reservation at the 180-day mark.

Thanks in advance for your insight!

I think it depends, in part, on whether you're traveling during free dining and/or during a busy time of year.

We're headed to WDW from May 1-5, 2018, and when I made my ADRs, we could have dined at BOG any night we wanted (although availability for our arrival day was limited to 8pm and later). Yet I read all the time on here about folks who try at 180 days and find it already booked for the entire duration of their trip.

It does depend on the time of year and the release of free dining. It is still a prime dining spot because of its continued popularity and the lack of other quality dining in MK. Highly crowded times will make available tables scarce. We also had no issue getting 2 BOG ADR's at 180 days, our trip coming also in May 2018, but as Weather_Lady says, free dining will slam the reservations fast and hard.

When we hit our 180 mark for our stay the first week of June 2018 the first available dinner reservation was on our 5th day (185 days out). And we started online at 6:00 a.m. eastern...

We tried to get an ADR for my trip this past November and it was not available for any of the 7 days right at the 180 day mark. We did have a group of 9 which makes it harder. They also had a MVMCP 4 of the 7 nights so MK closed at 6PM which also didn’t help. We did do lunch which was pretty good but you don’t get a meeting with the Beast after the meal. I guess he’s busy until the evenings:)

Thank you everyone for your responses.

At what time on your 180 day can you start making the ADRs? My recollection is 7am eastern, is that correct?

7:00 a.m eastern by phone, 6:00 a.m eastern online. You can make ADRs for your whole trip up to 10 days once you hit 180 days from check-in.

Oh wow, thank you! I didn’t know about the 6am online option. Every hour counts! Thanks again!

Yes... youre competing with lots of other guests trying to get prime ADR's and prime time slots, so the difference of being online at exactly 6 am can make a big difference. Not everyone is getting up early, but there are enough that do that end up with seatings taken early. Get on line a day or two earlier so you can be confident on how to use it smoothly and when the day comes try your most wanted ADR's first. Have your credit card number ready because you need it to guarantee the reservations.

We ate there when it first opened, so it's not a "must do" for us because we like to try new places, but just for fun, I've been playing with the reservations and have not seen ANY availability for it. I feel like either I just lucked out when we went or it has gotten harder to get.

I just looked for our beginning of June trip. Lots of options for lunch and breakfast. More limited at dinner for a party of four. I've gotten it closer to a trip as well though we usually just do lunch if we go at all because the food at dinner IMO isn't worth the cost.

I’ve only done the dinner there so far, so I’m obviously unfamiliar with the lunch. How would you compare the lunch to the dinner in terms of both the food and the atmosphere?

Thanks in advance!

Lunch is considered counter service so when you go in you order your food at the register and they give you a small round tracking device and then you find your own table from the 3 rooms. When your food is ready they bring it out on a little cart to your table. They know where you are sitting based on the device. You get your own drinks and also silverware which is real, not plastic. The drink cups are still paper. It’s basically the same atmosphere but there’s no Beast meet and greet on the way out. The food menu is more lunch based so think sandwiches and fries vs steak. I thought the lunch food was higher quality than a standard counter service meal but priced about the same. You still need an ADR even though it’s comsidered counter service.

I like lunch better actually. As mentioned above. Food is pretty good (kids meals are bland as all get out though so we split meals) and the prices are just a little more than what you'd pay at CS. No Beast, but you get to pick where you want to sit which I like. So you still get the atmosphere but much easier to get a meal there than dinner and I think better quality food. The food does have sandwiches but a few other things. My husband liked the braised pork. No alcohol at lunch too. Over all lunch IMO is a better value and fits the atmosphere well especially in the main hall since that is so noisy.

When we went for dinner we were able to pick where we sat, which was the West Wing. I think I would prefer dinner over lunch/breakfast. I enjoyed the elegance of dinner - not to mention getting our picture taken with the beast.

Atmosphere is better at dinner. As others have mentioned, there's the Beast and it's more elegant. As for the food, my wife and I greatly prefer the lunch over the dinner, which of course is personal preference. We typically do the dining plan, so price doesn't matter, but the only thing we both thoroughly liked for dinner is the steak, but it's just as good as most other Disney restaurant's steaks.

This past trip, we booked both lunch and dinner. We put the lunch on our dining plan, but dinner we just went to enjoy the dinner atmosphere and both got soups and a dessert and paid out of pocket. However, our waiter was noticeably irritated once she realized that we weren't getting anything other than a soup and dessert, which made us feel a little weird (honestly dont think she said more than 5 words to us the rest of the dinner, when she was extremely talkative before:confused:). We've decided not to do that anymore, however, as we did feel sort of bad for taking up a reservation spot (they sat us two people at a 6 person round table..?), and we dont want to be an annoyance to the waiter (I promise we do tip very well though! :))

Sorry for the off the topic ramble, but as for us (Mid-may trips and late Jan/Feb trip), we never have an issue getting a reservation at the 180 day mark. Usually have plenty of options....though, I do believe we booked the dinner at BOG at the airport before we flew down, so if you don't get one initially, as always, **keep checking**, because more than likely, one will pop up at some point.

Weve done breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Our favorite has to be dinner. The breakfast we feel is not worth doing because of the poor selection and amount of food for the cost, the lunch is a fine substitute if we're unable to get dinner ADR's, but we much prefer the dinner menu and the service as the best. We've dined in all 3 areas but the West Wing is our preference for atmosphere, and quieter tables.

Hmmm, not what I knew to happen nor with the friends who have gone. Interesting. How long ago was that?

Still doesn't change it for me. I don't care for the dinner offerings.
