BC Trip 7/29 - 8/6

I've been reading posts here for a little while, helping to plan my family's WDW trip to the BC from 7/29 - 8/6. This is the basic schedule I've compiled, but it's subject to change based on input:
Sat, 7/29: arrival, mouseboats on 7 seas lagoon (dad's request), chef mickey's
Sun, 7/30: EC
Mon, 7/31: DMGM, Sci-Fi Dine-in
Tues, 8/1: BB
Wed, 8/2: DAK
Thurs, 8/3: MK, Tony's
Fri, 8/4: TL
Sat, 8/5: MK
Sun, 8/6: DTD, DQ, departure

As I've heard many here say, some parks are not all day parks, but I'm giving DMGM, DAK, BB, and TL full days because afterward we will mroe than likely just go in the BC pool, go back to EC, which seems to be a more than one day park, or even go mini-golfing or something. Outside of where restaurants are listed, I figured we would end up eating at a Boardwalk restaurant or in EC on those days. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming EC = EPCOT ?

My observations - BB and TL - I don't think that you'll need a FULL day at the water parks. AK isn't a FULL day either. Perhaps on these 3 days you could do a second visit to MK, EPCOT and MGM in the afternoon / evening

If you have park-hopper tickets you could pop over to one of the parks in the evenings after the waterparks and watch a fireworks show. We stay at the Boardwalk when we go, and one of the great things about there and the Beach Club is having Epcot right there within walking distance to just pop in in the evenings of days like that. That would especially work for you, because you only have one Epcot day planned out, and I find the World Showcase is better appreciated in multiple small doses. It's more of a sit and soak it in type of thing than a go to these attractions and then you're done type of thing.

In terms of Boardwalk restaurants, it depends on your tastes, but Flying Fish is an excellent restaurant. If you have young children, it could be tough for them if they haven't been exposed to a nice restaurant before. Spoodles is also excellent. It's a mediterranean style restaurant with traditional entrees, as well as appetizers meant to share, similar to a tapas style restaurant. It would probably be lest intimidating to a young child, but if they're picky eaters, that could be a problem. The microbrewery there is OK. The beers aren't anything exceptional, and the food is kind of your basic diner type food. ESPNZone is ESPNZone. If you haven't been to one, it has your basic pub fare, and some entrees. The food is fine, but it's the atmosphere that is most interesting, as long as people in your group are interested in sports.

I would say the park hopper tickets are the way to go also. You can visit one park in the morning and another in the evening, especially good for EMH or eating in a park's restaurants.

As far as all day in the water parks I would say not to. Either arrive very early (before opening) or later in the afternoon. It does get tiring after awhile. You are staying at the Beach Club? Their pool is like a waterpark anyway and I wouldn't even fight those crowds unless it a "must do" for your family.

As far as spending all day in a park...we do that MK and EPCOT. MGM isn't a favorite of my family so we only spend a partial day there then head to another park, go shopping or hang out at the pool. DAK used to be a half day park for us, but we have been spending more time there as we discover its beauty and attraction.

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn last summer and were not very impressed with the food offerings, but thats my family...they are quite picky. We ended up going into EPCOT to eat or heading over to the YC/BC to eat.

Oh and as far as your location...is the forgotten borough Queens? :lookaroun
Its been know as that since Mayor Lindsey left us to fend for ourselves during a big snowstorm back in the 60's.

Yes, but Tigsmom, in the Boardwalk's defense, you did say in another post that by picky you meant that your family doesn't eat fish of any kind, and doesn't like mediterranean food, not that these restaurants are not of a high enough quality. I just want to make sure the OP doesn't skip over the Boardwalk restaurants just because of you and your family's food tastes. It would be like me saying not to eat at Le Cellier because I'm a vegetarian.

The restaurants are great at what they do, the service is great, just check the menu before going to make sure what they offer is what you like to eat.

Yes, EC means Epcot, and I took that abbreviation straight from the WDW Magic Acronyms and Abbreviations page, in case you were wondering.

I also realized, as I had said, that some of the parks were not day parks, and that more than likely after we were done at them we would probably return to Epcot, as its so close.

Having been to the water parks, I too would be ok with splitting a day between them or even skipping one of them, but the rest of my family does consider them to be "musts", so I am kind of stuck.

As for families being picky in eating, both one of my brothers and myself don't eat fish of any kind, so I guess we are also considered "picky".

And, finally, no, my forgotten borough isn't Queens. For us, forgotten borough is an increasingly popular name because, well, we never get any news coverage, ever. On top of that, basically nothing great happens here or is here, which I guess also makes us the forgettable borough, but we go with forgotten, since there was also a survey one time posted in a local newspaper a while back that asked people visiting to name the five boroughs, and we were most often the borough not named, and it was by a LARGE margin.

Yonkers, perhaps??

Would your family let you go to another park on your own while they are at one of the water parks? With Park Hoppers, that is possible. That way, you can explore more and not have to stay at the water park all day.

I would have to say probably not, though I could try, but to them this is a family vacation and they feel that everyone should be together.

And no, not yonkers, as I am actually (though my last post may seem to contrdict this) in one of the five boroughs of nyc. :)

Tis true, they did not really offer the type of food they like...like I said they are picky. Me, well I'll eat just about everything. The kids take after their dad. :lookaroun

Your last sentence is very true, although I will say being screamed at by the hostess in Spoodles for asking a simple question (yes she was reported) was disconcerting.

Then my second choice would be Richmond, also known as Staten Island...a place I spent quite a bit of my youth in a place called Midland Beach.

Looks like we have a winner. There is nothing like having your own newspaper (Staten Island Advance) because none of the major newspapers care what goes on in your borough, only for very little of your own paper to also concern your borough, especially when the little bit that does mainly revolves around high school sports.

In reply to yonkers being one of the five boroughs, its too far up, but it still probably has better name recognition than staten island, and more people probably guessed yonkers in the survey i mentioned than staten island. (To further prove my point, nothing beats the time when one of the categories on jeopardy was "New York's Five Boroughs", and after manhattan, brooklyn, the bronx, and queens were already answered and the last clue for the round said something to the effect of "the last borough left", someone guessed manhattan a second time before someone else got the question right.)
