Bay Lake Tower Refurb

Fresh from the Condo Association Meeting for BLT.

I talked to Kim Marinaccio, General Manager of the Contemporary Resort, who was assigned to answer questions about the refurbs at BLT. I was hoping they'd show renderings, they didn't. First units will be ready in a few weeks.

A few interesting points, mostly about the Studios:

- We'll finally be able to store bags under the bed, yay!
- Bigger and updated interactive TVs.
- Makeup mirror in bathroom.
- Bathroom keeps the same configuration.
- Improved/brighter lighting in the room.
- Carpet/hardwood floor combination.
- Studios won't lose storage space.
- More plugs and USB ports.

Attendees were invited to ask questions and make comments/suggestions. The budget for BLT was approved. Board of Directors, reelected.

Do we know if the studios will have the double Murphy bed and the pull down under the TV to sleep 5?

The studios only sleep 4 now, and it’s unlikely that will be increased. They are amongst the smallest studios on property.

Unfortunately better lighting does not come across in images @nickys shared, at least in the living area where it appears there are even fewer lamps than before. The living area seems like it may depend on light bleed from kitchen. Admittedly it's a small complaint and probably wouldn't have disappointed me if they hadn't specifically said improved lighting. But maybe it'll show better in person!

Overall I like the look. I'm a fan of neutrals with pops of color that can be more easily updated as needed in a future soft goods refresh.

Writing desk in the master plus the big floor lamp in the living room look to have been removed.

Why do all none of the chairs have backs to them?

Lack of storage as usual thanks to the pull-down bed under the TV.

Do these designers ever spend time in the rooms? Or do they just try to make it look aesthetically pleasing?

And why are there two different tones of wood between the kitchen and queen Murphy bed?

At least the pull-out pantry shelf is still there. And the new coffee maker.

What does the art look like when you walk in where the sketched Mickey art used to be?

I agree with above post on storage, not sure they have spent much time in the rooms based on the design.

I’ve seen pictures of all the art. Have to say it is really nice - although anyone who doesn’t appreciate Mary Blair isn’t going to be happy with a lot of it.

There is a nice etching on the master mirror (I think that’s where it is) and a couple of black & white photos too.

Not sure where all of it is though, sorry.

I will still miss the old art work but feel a lot better about the replacement.

I found this video on YouTube, which shows the artwork.



Not sure if it was always like this but it seems odd there’s no picture on the wall in the entrance way.

Also, there’s a picture beside the bed but not above it - I think the master bedroom of the larger villas are the same though. The headboard just looks a bit bare.

But I love the Liberty Belle and RoA picture in the bathroom! And my other gripes might be nit-picking.

Good amount of storage in the studio and I am so happy they are using the parks as the IP and not Mickey Mouse (or worse…).
