um,.. i could be wrong, but...
didnt they just build this whole thing a year or too ago????

why would the possibly need to refurb this when there are other rides and areas that havent seen a good refurb in a decade all over the resort?

Maybe things are getting back to the old days where things are refurbed before they are in a state of disrepair.

maybe....but I think we would see evidence of this turnaround in other areas.

I hope you are right, but I have a feeling it's probably due to faulty construction or a recall of some sort.

The chances of you being correct are considerably higher than mine.

I was staying at BLT a few weeks ago and the only issue I had with the slide was that every seam on the slide was rough on my back. Maybe all waterslides are like this??? Otherwise it was in good shape.

The shipwreck slide at the Yacht & Beach is like this, too. It's the main reason why I only went down it once. You'd think they could have improved the design by now... Or even somehow cast it as a single piece of fiberglass.

This is my bet. I thought the seams were downright painful when I rode the slide a few weeks ago, and this is coming from a relatively fit 20-something. No other slide on Disney property I've been on was this bad, including the Stormalong Bay slide, as far as I can remember. Good for Disney if they're addressing this issue.

Most likely it's the same reason the disneyland hotel slide had to go back down for refurb

The DLH's water slide went down because the slide's waterfall was causing rust to grow on the slide's structural frame. Since Bay Lake Tower's slide doesn't have such a waterfall, this seems less likely.

Interesting coincidence, though...

water still could get to the frame, just not as large quantity

When I was there in August, the only obvious visual issue was that the exterior seemed to be very faded. It just seemed like the finish didn't take too well the Florida sun.
