Does anyone have any pics of Bay Lake or 7 Seas Lagoon drained? Also looking for any other lakes, ponds, rivers or pools that have been drained.

I'm pretty sure that Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon never get drained. I believe that Bay Lake was dredged *once* at the beginning; it's a natural lake.

Here's a picture of the Rivers of America drained in 1978...

From http://www.wdwmagic.com/wdwhistory.htm

"Bay Lake was first drained with pumps and its bottom layer of muck scooped out. Next to it, over seven million cubic yards of earth were dug up for the lagoon and used as a foundation for the MAGIC KINGDOM Park. Sand found underneath all the muck was used to line the four and a half miles of beach around the newly created Seven Seas Lagoon. Bay Lake and the 172-acre lagoon were then refilled with water from the surrounding wetland and stocked with more than 70,000 fish."

The history is a great read, it tells how they moved the water around using canals, levee's etc.

Yep. Neither have been drained since 1969. Bay Lake was dredged as mentioned above, Seven Seas was excavated for the fill around the MKs Utilidors and left to fill naturally. Seven Seas looked strange empty I`ll admit.

Try www.disneypix.com for quite a few more ROA drained pics, during BTMs construction. These forums has a few pics about of Futureworld West when the lakes (all connected) were drained last year.

Here are some 1969 aerials showing the construction of Magic Kingdom including the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake almost completely drained.

I have the photos but not readily available on my phone. To my knowledge Seven Seas Lagoon has never been drained only man made and filled once.

One interesting thing about the Bay Lake if you look at the very early aerial photos from the late 1960s- it formed a natural hidden Mickey shape. It's uncanny.
