Battle Of The Theme Big Two..Rain V Rex..

Say what you want about Rainforest & T- Rex..Yes they can be noisy, and yes, it's not fine dining, but the kids love these two restaurants at downtown. But having eaten twice at RF and once at Rex, we were not disappointed with our meals..However if I had to pick just one winner, it would be Rexy..So if you had to pick one only for a night out with the kids, which one would be your choice..Here was my battle against my T-Rex T-Bone..

Definitely T Rex...part of this is just because there is only 1 other T Rex in the US. Still, I think the theming and effects are better. While I don't mind RFCs food, on "most" areas ... T Rex's was noticeably better. Sadly, my t bone was not as nice as @real mad hatter 's.

I don't like either of them...but, if I had to choose, Rex...hands down.

Nope, no kids. Though I have been to a couple different Rainforest Café locations, it's always been for breakfast. If T-Rex did breakfast at Downtown Disney, I might try it!

We do both. That being said, I asked both of my kids (separately) which one they preferred. They both said T-Rex without hesitation. They both mentioned the Ice Room in particular is one of their favorite areas. From my perspective I find the food at both to be good, but nothing like a great steakhouse. The ribs (Mojo Bones) are always better at Rainforest which is often what I order.

We did not try Rainforest, but we did try T-Rex. I guess it was ok to try once, but we won't go again. It was extremely noisy & crowded & the service was very slow, probably due to the crowd. We couldn't even hold a conversation across the table. We spent most of our meal just sitting there in silence after we realized we couldn't hear each other without yelling over the noise. The food was extremely good, but we found the portions way too much. I couldn't even finish 1/4 of what was on my plate and I felt horrible and very wasteful about the amount of food that was thrown away from just our table alone. I'm not one to box up leftovers when I'm on vacation as I know we won't eat it. The atmosphere was kind of cool, with the dinosaurs, but not enough to make me go back. Perhaps it's more tolerable if you have kids who are completely into dinosaurs?

Neither one for food. My kids really liked t-rex, and I did too for show. If I ever go to either again, its for drinks only.

I would probably pick T-Rex since there are two Rainforest Cafe's on property and others around the country so we could have the experience elsewhere.

I don't care for either, but my boys loved T REX! The food was just OK. It's very loud. It's not "Disney". But, if II had to choose, it'd be T-Rex. But actually @Texas84 they really are both so similar!

I haven't been to the T-Rex as of yet...so I can't say...but I would go to either..even if I didn't have kids...

I went to T-Rex once a couple of years ago and the noise was so bad that I would never go again.

Memo to those who say it's loud..noisy..etc......Of course it is...It's a restaurant themed on Dinosaurs..It's not like your eating in a restaurant themed on a library...Come on people..Join in the fun and roar your head off....

We want to try TRex next year as my boys are into Dinos. My girl isn't but she puts the boys through CRT so fair play lol.
Have they ever done breakfast, I read above that they don't now but did they ever? On our first day we want to do breakfast in DTD on our first day as we aren't leaving the resort but staying at OKW so just a boat hop.

For those that missed here is a picture or our meal from T-Rex a couple weeks ago..T=Rex wins hands down..yes it can be nosiey..the Dino noises alone are loud..not to mention a meteor show every 20 minutes or so..but the food is WAY WAY undervalued...the food is pretty darn good..the service can be slow it was when we were there but it the overall experience is very good..we love it..Id eat there kids or no kids
