I remember for a while, like the 90s I think, there were a lot of rabbits around Magic Kingdom and the MK resorts.
it's weird what can find a comfortable niche in the middle of guest areas as opposed to the undeveloped wilderness

Read somewhere that they've been swooping down close to guests. While less of a danger it does freak out folks and that causes issues.

Thats great.... I wont tell DW to look up. Shes petrified of bats. Knowing they are in the area she will not want to go anywhere near the land. Weve had two fly into our home over the past 30+ years and thats enough!!! One flew around our church while Mass was going on. My grandparents had colonies of them in their attic and no matter how hard they tried to eradicate them it was impossible. They would always find a small crack or opening and get back in. Often making their way into the house.

I do not like them either. We had one get into our house and my husband killed it with a frypan. I couldn't ever bring myself to use it even after it had been washed multiple times. We had a guy come out, he has a business in which he calls himself Da Batman and he inspected our house. Luckily he found no sign of any bats in our house and sealed up a few areas that he thought might be problematic. He said since our neighbor across the street has a lot of pine trees it was likely that the bat came from there. I think he was right because a couple months later I was sitting on my screened in porch at about 11am a bat came flying from those trees and flew into the screen of my porch, fell to the ground, then flew back to the neighbor's pine trees. I was so freaked out, I was sure it had rabies since it was out in the middle of the day. Anyway, now I keep mothballs around my porch because apparently the mothballs repel them. I know bats are good but they can be good away from me. I won't be looking up in Pirates or that area anymore.

Most VISIBLE ones hang around the covered Frontierland sign near the exit of PotC. They likely actually live in the huge plot conservation land. Or should I say “expansion pad”… They do not seem to want to be in PotC. Instead, it seems like a bird that mistakingly went into a garage. Might not seem like a maze to us, but it certainly is for them! They seem to fly around and try to find an exit. If they can’t find an exit they, well, eventually die. Quite a few have died after getting trapped in the building already.
We had one in our basement that expired, I imagine for the same reason. It stuck itself to the wall, so I didn't know if it was dead or alive, but after it didn't move for a week I decided it is either lazy or dead. It was the later.

My neighbor installed a few bat houses around his property for them to live in. I told him he was crazy. Then he came back with “They will eat the mosquitos”. Yeah I said, I’d rather get a mosquito bite than a bat bite. When he moved out the new owner removed the bat houses. LOL

I recall hearing Wilderness Lodge used to have a big issue with bats, then environmentally conscious measures were put in place to improve situations for both the bats and guests.

Also: a friend was dining at Whispering Canyon Cafe and their table was dive-bombed by a bat swooping over from the lobby area!

Bat vs Seagull - Clash Of The Guest-Swoopers! (a Syfy original movie)

but yeah there may also be issues of (iirc) during parts of the year in FL there's specific prohibitions about booting bats from your property, beyond usual "lol cheap mouse is cheap" reasons for them sticking around

Good reason to leave them alone and let them be
Can’t leave them alone when they’ve entered my house and are flying from room to room swooping down near us and our pets. Opening a door or window and hope they find their way out doesn’t always work. So leaving them be isn’t a solution.

Don't chase them, turn lights down a bit and relax. It will calm and find it's way. It is not attacking you

You are aware killing bats is a criminal offence? They're an endangered species.

Well this happened about 15 years ago so….

I wouldn’t ever personally (knowingly)come near one anyway. The only reason I would deal with one is if was going after my dogs because then it would probably be diseased. Otherwise I’m running away and letting someone else deal with it. Thanks for the lesson though.

I wonder if anyone was ever prosecuted for killing a bat that got into their house? That is sad, it ruins the hunting trifecta... Deer Hunting, Duck Hunting and Bat Hunting used to the big three, now down to only two. 😥 That must be why you almost never see a witch brewing up a spell in their cauldrons anymore. Bats were always part of the recipe, now that they are endangered I wonder what they use as a substitute? Maybe a possible new product to be made called "I can't believe it's not Bat"! Everyone has my permission to take that idea and run with it. It should be a big seller considering all the witch hunting that has been allegedly going on lately. ;)

Relax??? Sorry but opening the door and windows didnt work. Both times they just flew upstairs and kept frantically flying from one spot to another. My dogs wanted to catch the flying toy. DW was screaming cause shes in a W/C and couldnt get away from them.
If I cant get them to leave on their own, I'll risk breaking the law to kill them and hide the evidence from the Bat Cops.

Might be easier getting the ones that are causing a comotion to leave. The animal will settle and it will be much easier to deal with. It isn't going to attack you when it is flying it's just trying to get away from all the scary things it doesn't understand
