GOLD GLOVES REPORT!!!!!!! MADDUX, JONES AWARDED!!!!!
Maddux, Jones win Gold Gloves
By Mark Bowman / MLB.com
ATLANTA -- A few days after it was learned that Ruben Rivera had sold Yankee teammate Derek Jeter's glove, Vinny Castilla sat in the Braves clubhouse and admired Greg Maddux's glove.
"I'll bet this glove would go for a lot of money," Castilla said. "What do you have like nine or 10 Gold Gloves?"
Maddux smirked, nodded his head and slyly said, "12."
Thus, it was no surprise to once again see Maddux's name when the National League Gold Glove Award winners were announced Thursday morning. Nor was it a shock to see that Andruw Jones had pocketed his fifth consecutive Gold Glove.
Maddux, who committed one error in 70 chances and began three double plays this past season, has won 13 consecutive Gold Gloves. He has captured the award more than any other NL pitcher and is within three of the overall record, held by Jim Kaat.

Jones, who has won the award every year since becoming a regular in 1998, once again provided plenty of acrobatic, highlight-reel catches this past season. The 25-year-old center fielder committed three errors in 412 chances, and has some in the baseball world believing he might be the greatest defensive outfielders ever.
"Obviously, I didn't get to see some of the guys from a long time ago, but I can't see how they could be better than Andruw," Gary Sheffield said. "It's good to finally have him on your team, instead of having him rob you all the time."
Jones joins Phil Niekro and Dale Murphy as the only other Braves, besides Maddux, to win five Gold Gloves. Maddux has won 10 Gold Gloves since joining the Braves in 1993.
Braves manager Bobby said throughout the season that he believed Castilla deserved to be the National League's Gold Glove third baseman. But despite committing just six errors in 337 chances, Castilla still didn't get the recognition thought he deserved.
Instead, Scott Rolen, who committed 16 errors in 484 chances, earned his third straight NL Gold Glove at third base.
Other winners included Astros catcher Brad Ausmus, Rockies first baseman Todd Helton, Cardinals second baseman Fernando Vina, Cardinals shortstop Edgar Renteria, Rockies right fielder Larry Walker and Cardinals center fielder Jim Edmonds.
Gold Gloves have been presented every year since 1957 by Rawlings. Managers and coaches vote before the end of the regular season and can't vote for any of their own players.
WOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love them Braves! Hell yeah!!!
