Baseball and People Running Out on to the field

In the game between the Orioles and Red Sox, a fan ran out on to the field. The players just stand their, the umpires just stand their and while the man is running the policeman are walking. Is everyone f-in lazy? And the crowd cheers when he gets taken away--Orioles fans don't have much to cheer about, i guess. anway, he got body slamed by police near home plate. anyway, pet peve of mine. thank you for allowing me to vent.

Can't speak to why the police were walking (unless they didn't want him a chance to juke them out of their socks), but the players and umps were probably staying where they were in case the guy was planning on attacking one of them like that guy did last year.

These guys usually do it at the craziest times, too. Didn't see the game, but I'm guessing it wasn't too exciting...the players and umps don't go after them cause if something happens the lawsuits would be tremendous. Everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame!
(and yes, I cheer too.)

We have more of a problem with throwing things onto the field like beer bottles and free baseballs.
