The thing is, these abrricades are only as protective as the security in the booth. Most high risk security areas(embassy, high profile gov't buildings, military areas)have sealed boothes so the guards could not be confronted and overpowered, otherwise the terrorists could shoot the guard walk in the booth and flip the switch. Most of these type barricades have machine gun armed personnel trained to encounter hostile threats. The mere use of these things is not very practical without other measures.

They are better than nothing at all.

Now come on lets not get over excited here, this is not the movies. I believe this is a sensible and easy precaution. Plus i believe these booths were more to get number plates and the like.

"Do you hear the people sing, Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again.
When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums........."

Ooops....sorry....wrong barricade...

Hold it everyone. I'm just taking about the little concrete three foot walls to prevent cars for ramming into the parks or whatever not full out fortesses.

Theyre the same as in front of the White House, Pentagon, FBI Building and on Constution & Independance Aves in DC.

The "new" barricades are designed to stop truck bombers...I'm not trying to be Rambo here I'm stating what it is and what it is designed to do. I wouldn't really like the idea of machine gun armed guards at the service access gates but that's what most other places that use those type of devices have. The new hydraulic gates are only in the service entrances so the public never sees them anyway but I was just pointing out the flaw.I don't want this to become another gun or security debate just take the info at face value...they are designed to stop big heavy fast moving vehicles, the type most likely to be filled with explosives and a terrorist.

Thanks everyone but I know what a barricade does. I might be young but I'm not stupid:animwink: . I was really wondering where they had been placed and if anyone had seen them because I can't figure out why they'd but like infront of MK because there is not a direct road. The closest one is the bus drop off but there are pillars before the main gate. I just wanted to know exactly where they had been placed.:p :hammer: SOrry for any confusion.
