Hi friends. My family and I are heading to Disney on January 22nd. We wanted to try something different and spend an evening grabbing a couple drinks at the bars along the resort monorail loop. We have a 5:30pm O'Hana reservation on the 27th and were planning on starting out monorail crawl from the Polynesian. Any suggestions as to which bars at each of the monorail resort we should try? Also, we rented an offsite villa because there are 8 of us adults. Will it be an issues that we are not staying on Disney property and utilizing these resort bars? Thanks in advance!

Mizner Lounge in the GF, Tambu Lounge in the Poly and the Outer Rim Lounge in the Contemporary are all good places for a drink

Haven't been Tambu Lounge but have noticed that it appears to get kinda loud, maybe due to it's proximity to O'hana?
The Outer Rim can also be a bit loud with the concourse noise but it's the only one we've actually sat and had a drink at. It's nice to watch the boat traffic on the lake plus, if you time it right, you can watch the Electric Water Pageant go by.
Once I peeked into Mizner, there was gentleman playing piano. Mizner, IMO, seems to be the most sedate.

Before you eat, you could hit up the Barefoot pool bar at Poly for a drink on the beach. Also, I suggest getting a 'to go' cup when finished at poly, and then walking to GF, especially if weather is nice.

Anyone can buy drinks if they are legal and can prove it. :)

I can't make recommendations, sorry. I was going to @71jason and @PhotoDave219 but Jason already posted. If I were going to look for recommendations, that's who I'd ask (which is not to imply that they're terrible drunks, if that's how it came across.)

Not really. Bars don't let you keep tabs like they used to and that has compelled me to sprint away after a one and done many times. Further, I have to remain sober in order to speed away without paying. So, I have issues with the "money for drinks" system that so many bars seem to employee on top of the already onerous id rules.

I stand corrected.

Anyone can buy drinks if they're legal, can prove it and have money they are willing to give away in exchange for alcohol. :D

I usually avoid bars for this reason. Also so expensive so many annoying guys hitting on you, and I can never figure out if you're supposed to tip or not. But If I'm with a group of friends I dont worry as much about any of that

Make sure to have a Lapu Lapu at the Tambu Lounge. I will admit that they are slightly over-rated, but in my book, you can't beat a drink served in a giant pineapple while in the fake South Seas.

What Jason said. Also upstairs at splitsville and the outside bar at Rainforest Cafe at DTD

Well, if you go to Mizners, at least it will be awesome guys hitting on you.

Also, always tip. If you walk up, buy a drink, and walk away--tip. $1/drink, unless it's some really involved cocktail or high-end Scotch.
