Bags on rides

Hi guys!

Not been in 3 years now to universal and just wondering how the whole bag situation is going?
I usually carry a pack/bum bag with me and some ride attendants had no issue, whereas others looked at it a bit funny and eventually let me on. The only one I had to take it off for was Rip Ride Rockit.

I emailed Universal last night and their response was-
For the safety and security of our Guests and their belongings, loose articles, such as packs are not permitted on many of our attractions. Given the safety features, dramatic movement, and dynamic nature of many of our rides, an exception cannot be made no matter how securely the bag is attached. I apologize for any disappointment this may cause. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to call us at (407) 224-4233, option three (3).

SO now I can't decide what to do for the best, chance the pack again and hope this was just some jobsworth at HR dealing with me or to just get some good cargo shorts to store stuff?!
How have people found it recently in relation to packs?

Thanks

Where it's an issue - they have lockers that are free for a set period of time near the attraction. They will have a 'no bag' policy and you just use the lockers.

Yep, this isn't really an issue at all. Just use the free while you ride lockers at the rides that have them. The only difference is the water rides where they aren't free, but if your pack is watertight enough, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

I've used those lockers before and had such problems with them!! Mostly at Dragon Challenge, so I refuse to use them now because 'free' lockers is a very loose term to use I feel, without getting into my very long winded story!!! I just wondered if anyone had any experience with packs on all rides.

You'll have to remove any bag items on any of the more intense rides. That's why free lockers are provided.

The lockers time limit is adjusted to the ride wait time. Don't dawdle at the exit and you'll be under time. Any fingerprint issues and ask an attendant. And don't push your finger/thumb hard on the reader!

I always wear one and always put it in a locker when needed. Including HRRR, Mummy, Hulk, Dragons, FJ, Blutos and Ripsaw.

Loose / attached / carry ones are not allowed usually on HRRR, Mummy, Hulk, Dragons or FJ. Nor would you want to try the restraints wearing a bag. Its policy for a) safety and b) copyright enforcement. It's not to make money. Hence the free option where required.

They've gotten much more generous with the time frames than they used to be, or did you ride multiple times on Dragon Challenge, because when they say one ride, they mean one ride per use. Typically when I find an attraction with a 10-15 minute line, the time period on the lockers is 30-40 minutes. I've even used the singles line at Hulk, which took about an hour but the locker time was 60 minutes as the line was posted at like a 35 or 40. Of course by the time I got off the free period had expired but the locker attendant gave me no issues.

I was there in June 2013 and wore a pack on the Mummy and the FJ with no issues. Didn't go on the coasters so can't comment on them.

I wear one of the Universal ones (the little one, i think they're like $20) and I haven't had any problems. It fits securely and snuggly under the restraints and doesn't move. The only time I have to take it off is for Dragon Challenge.

I LOVE that bag- I always want to buy one, but end up remembering when we're in the car on the way home :(
