Bag check

Are they still doing bag checks before entering the parks Or just metal detectors? My daughter insists on bringing a backpack with all her essentials; I personally like to go bag free.

I got sent to bag check because I had umbrellas in my backpack. They say without those I would have skated through. They said to keep umbrellas out of the bag and held far out in front of you to avoid the bag diversion.

With the new scanners, they don’t have to check every bag. If the scanners detect something that needs to be checked, they will pull you off to the side and check your bag. You have to have umbrellas out when you walk through the scanners.

The new security process is truly a godsend. No more standing around in a sea of people waiting for Harold from PA to search your bag with a stick. Unless you have an umbrella, you just walk right through. Occasionally the scanner will alert the Cast to something and you'll be directed to a quick check.

Amen to that! Thanks for replying.
Hopefully a water bottle, sunscreen, blotting paper and makeup won’t set the scanner off 🤣

From my experience, you’ll be fine! My sister had a small metal tin of breath mints and it caused her to get pulled over to the side for further inspection. Needless to say, she stopped carrying the mints. I bought one of the Galaxy’s Edge sporks and went through security at Epcot’s International Gateway and got pulled off to the side. Other than that, I love the new scanners!

Why toss your daughter under the bus?
It makes me curious about what you take vs what she takes.

With the new security it goes much faster.
If you are concerned her bag will slow you down just tell her to meet up with you
1. What??? (Please see the 🤣)
2. I posted I prefer to go bag free
3. Not worried about being slowed down, just asked a question about how bag check was working now.

Scanners were sooo much easier and faster for me to get through to the parks but DW and her W/C got thoroughly searched. Again some security were pleasant and others wanted to search every crevice and nook and cranny. One trainee, new on the job really went to town until his partner who was overseeing him stepped in and said it wasnt necessary.
