Bag Check.

If you go through bag check at the ticket and transportation center then take the monorail to Epcot, do you have to go through the bag check there as well?

As of 2 weeks ago, yep, you sure do. It's a real time suck :(

And I didn't even get a fill-in-the-blank on my Epcot survey to tell Disney all about it lol.

Unless it recently changed, the monorail guests do go through the bag check at the entrance to EPCOT, so yes, it is a redundant check. So, far for us it has been less than five minutes each time.

I thought the point was to put the monorail inside the security perimeter so they didn’t have to do this?

The buses and Monorails enter at the same point in EPCOT, Disney would need to construct a pathway to isolate the two, which they may do. This is speculation on my end of coarse. The Monorail at the Kingdom, including the boats are isolated from the buses, therefore, the Monorails and ferry's do not need to go through the bag check. This began last year.

Given the pointless security at the Contemporary monorail entrance I can see why they would want redundant checks. If you were trying to smuggle stuff into the parks and the monorail was considered inside the security point then any halfway decent terrorist would be going through the hotel's security checkpoints, they are very vulnerable to people shuffling things past them. I don't know if Disney is just being cheap on how they set the checkpoints out or if it is because they don't want to upset the guest paying a significant premium for their deluxe hotels.

The check at the monorail is for monorail safety. The check at the park entrance is for park safety. I'm sure they will build a different ramp/railing configuration soon so they don't need two. It's a pain I know, especially for those who carry bags.
