Just when we thought "okay...if we want to see the original Tiki Room we can go to Disneyland." This may no longer be so.

Rumor has it that Disneyland's Tiki Room will be taken over by the characters in the next Disney animated feature, which takes place in Hawaii.

Let's hope that they can change our Tiki back, or keep DL as is. We have to have the original SOMEWHERE... :(

I don't know, but all the times I went to the Tiki Room, Sunshine Pavillion was always full of people, maybe I went of "Ladies Free" night, but I can swear people just love to sit back, relax and enjoy the birds singing.:sohappy:

As someone who goes to Disneyland annually (and have been for twenty years), it would actually be nice if they somehow updated the show. I've got two little girls who always insist that we pop in on the birds. And I just don't wanna "sing like the birdies sing." They don't even really have to change the show that much. Just give us a new tune!

Of course, the first time my family and I went to WDW, we got suckered into their Tiki Room because it was called "Tropical Serenade" or something like that. We all were jacked because we thought perhaps they altered something. Snore!

Actually, it gave us a big chuckle since people in Florida looked about a equally excited by the show as those in California.

The Tiki Room in Florida has already changed to an "under new management" show...the original needs to be in existence somewhere!

Regarding "Under New Management:" All I gotta say is "YIPPEE!" We're going to WDW in 85 days and I'm actually looking forward to seeing the birdies sing. Helps that Iago is probably one of my all time favorite Disney Characters--I'm prone to comic relief sidekicks who do a lot of .

Please, nobody give me any actual info about the MK Tiki show. I just want to experience it. It'll probably be enjoyed but not a "let's do it again" type experience.

Upon reflecting upon pros and cons of altering the DL show, the pro is that Disneyland is scheduled to get very little upgrade in the next few years since DCA is in dire need of more attractions to put it in the same universe of it's much older next door neighbor. So doing a simple referb to one of the most ancient attractions in all of Disney would be great.

However, it's been nice to know that Tiki Room is a sure-fire walk-in attraction on even the most crowded days. And doing something to add an actual wait to this attraction might indeed suck.

Rumor is that Disneyland's Country Bear Jamboree might come back in an updated form. The theater sits dark and semi-empty as Pressler and Eisner decide. Their dilemma--they finally figured out that they should make a motion picture about these beloved bears. It's actually hitting theaters this summer. If it's a success, rumor is that they will upgrade Disneyland's show with new songs and new voices (several prominent celebrities will be doing the bear voices in the movie so expect the bears to subsequently sound like them).

Of course, this also means that MK at WDW will probably get a similar change.

The other connected rumor is that if the Country Bears Flick is a flop, Disneyland will get the Pooh Bear Ride installed into the old Country Bear Playhouse, and the bears will only reside at MK. (Then again, is that show at Euro or Tokyo DL?)

So far no real official notice of what they're actually committed to doing. Instead one brief article in local papers, including Variety, at the end of last summer when Country Bears was closing brought up the two possiblities.

All I heard was ... Pooh. I thought that DCA's Grizzly Peak would be a better bet.

And you know what? THAT'S TERRIBLE. I'll tell you why.

COUNTRY BEAR JAMBOREE is one of THE MOST popular attractions at Walt Disney World. Afternoon comes, and there's a line crazy coming out of the show. This is a no-mess-with attraction and SHOULD NOT be given a movie tie-in. As for Disneyland, it's FINE...reason being, the Country Bear Playhouse, while around was almost VACANT from guests...of course, until word came out that the show was ending.

DISNEY BETTER NOT TIE-IN TO THE WALT DISNEY WORLD VERSION. OR ELSE, THEY'RE THROUGH.

I actually work in the film industry and know the guys who produced the Country Bear flick. It's in post production right now. Disney isn't banking hard on it being a huge success, but is hoping that it becomes a family fave sleeper hit between all the explosive big-budget fare...or ends up being the flick families will go to when Star Wars Episode 2 is sold out.

When the CBPlayhouse shut down in September, a lot of people over at Walt Disney Pictures scratched their heads since it took them 30 years to figure out that they could and should make a movie about their bears.

The Pooh Bear Ride rumor is the primary rumor of what they will do as the replacement. The update/movie tie-in is actually in second position. Depends on what the brain trusts are deciding to spend (and no one got year end bonuses at Disney this year, including Eisner--at least that's what they told the local papers last week). Also depends on what kind of interest and shelf-life they'd feel a new Bear show would provide.

When Haunted Mansion did it's Christmas thing, it was the first time since Splash Mtn opened in late 80's when that side of the park actually had a crowd. Usually there's a mob at the Indiana Jones ride and walk ons for everything else--except Splash Mountain which always has a 45 minute standy-by que. Article in summer stated that Pressler and Eisner desperately want something that will pull people into the deeper recesses of the park.

Then again the latest news has been about a Bugs Life Kid Zone set to open this summer at DCA with Tower of Terror to follow in 2003. This was news from as recently as last week in local L.A. papers.

My take as always is, when they start building it, I'll believe it.
