Bad smell in EPCOT west breezeway

My family goes to WDW twice a year and for at least a few years now we notice a really offensive smell whenever we are walking through the west breezeway at about the fastpass kiosk. It is a fantastic combination of smelly feet and throw up... Has anyone else noticed this? I feel bad for the cast members working in this area

I made this thread a while back and think it may be the same issue? :greedy:

Been here for just over 2 weeks now having a great time doing the parks and enjoying everything Orlando has to offer. Did Epcot for the fourth time today and noticed the same thing I did on our first visit there this trip, that part of it stinks really badly. That first visit I thought to myself "It's got to be a one off, maybe the toilets have backed up or something", however today it still stunk. Can anybody guess which part I'm talking about?

The part in question is inside the building that houses 'Club Cool', but on the opposite side from it. If you walked from either Journey or The Land towards 'Club Cool' and cut through (past the photos of Epcot's development), it's just there. It's kind of like the smell we all get to enjoy when we get into a lift of a multi storey car park, that lovely smell of urine or worse that some kind soul has decided to share with us all. As I say on day one about a week and a half or so ago, I thought it a one off. Yet today it was still there and I again checked with Mrs Merg that I wasn't imagining it as lots of folk were sitting resting there looking fairly contented. Some people were even eating there, I felt like shouting "Come on people what's wrong with you, this is like dining in a public toilet" (I didn't by the way).

Has anyone else experienced this or not? Surely we're not that unlucky that on four visits we've arrived just after somebody hasn't made it to the toilets in time, the odds on that must be so ridiculously high to rule that out?

I noticed that when I was there in September.

It has been an ongoing problem for years now, I'm taking like 8 years, I'm not sure why the problem hasn't been addressed yet. I don't know if fixing it would call for a lot of ground work in that area....

Didn't they have a whole section dug up for several months a year or 2ago while they tried to fix this problem? I seem to remember talk of sewer line repairs in that area.

I don't recall that area being dug up, unless your talking about the work that was done on the land pavilion ... but I could be wrong.. my memory is not what it used to be. Lol. If it was worked on it must have been a really quick job...

Holy smokes, yes! I've definitely taken notice of it EVERY single time we visit Epcot (unfortunately) :hungover:
Most definitely unpleasant, but for our family trips, that spot is always a quick walkthrough so we don't really get too upset about it :)

CMs told me that there was an issue with drainage pipes getting clogged or something. It definitely has that sewage smell.

You mean the "fart zone"? Lol, we've noticed it since we started going in 2008. We always crack jokes when we head through it on the way to the Land.
