Bad decisions, not Microsoft, hurt Disney

I think Mr. Virgin's idea of entertainment is very limited. I tend to agree with the opinion of industry "guru's" that the reason why Windows has such a strong market share is due to...games. If Apple had jumped on the game bandwagon, back in the early to mid-90's, I believe Apple would have the lions share of the home business computer market, and IT people would be trying to figure out how to keep their Apple servers from being hacked.

That's what is driving the industry...games. Which require more memory, faster drives, faster processors, and faster graphic cards.

Last time I checked...games are entertainment. Just a different type than what Disney produces.

Excellent points, as always. Let's not forget the Internet. Most people use it the majority of the time for entertainment, such as visiting this forum. How many computers that logon to this site use Windows? Frankly, I worry sometimes about members here when they say things such as, "I can't logon to WDWMAGIC at work, but at home it works fine". (Or visa versa.)

Woody - thank you! I was actually just making the point that Microsoft, in 1998, wasn't in the entertainment business, but that has changed. :) The line is quite blurry for many people, as Microsoft makes many, many products that enable people to enjoy entertainment options, like Windows, Media Player, Xbox (although they do make games), etc. It's very easy to blame them. And Disney needs to look in the management/MBA mirror to find where a lot of their problems lie.
