Backpacks?

We are headed out tomorrrow and need to know whether we will be allowed to take a backpack into the park with water, debbie cakes, etc.

If so, can it be just any old backpack, or do they require that mesh, see-through, stuff?

Thanks,

You can take a backpack into the parks. You will be required to have it open when you go through security check points upon entering each park though.

Pam,

I know that WDW frowns upon people bringing in food to the parks, but is it true that they are pretty lax on this rule???

Backpacks are ok, we use the drawstring kind as this is the ewasiest to bring on the rides.

We also bring in small snacks, nothing that could be considered a "lunch". Granola bars, trail mix, peanutbutter crackers. We've brought in water & juice boxes and have never had a problem.

Be prepared to have your bag inspected at the gates... Enjoy.

They don't care one bit. All we carry in our backpack is food and water and we have never even been remotely questioned about it.

I looked this one up recently on my old maps from the 80's where food was banned from being brought into the parks - it was on the list of rules along with always wear shoes and apporpriate clothing. The food rule is no longer on the maps, so you can bring nibbles in with you.

I bring water bottles ect. into the parks all the time. If it is snacks I don't think they care one bit.

We went recently and we brought a bunch of snacks and such for our three eyar old. We brough juice and we even brought a PB sandwich (I don't really recommend that though, it got too squished , LOL) No one ever said anything....they don't really care I don't think. And for the prices you pay on tickets to get there they are by far getting their money's worth.

Good luck and have fun!
Now if you could only put me and my family in your backpack.....

I always bring a bookback with me into the parks. Disney is one of the few parks I have gone too that allow food. You can bring in snacks and drinks if you want as long as they are not in a cooler. I believe they have places to put coolers though if you want to keep them there.. but don't quote me on that because I think I may have this mixed up with another part.

Don't forget --> At almost every stand you can walk up and ask for water. IT'S FREE! Just make sure to specify TAP water. In some places they actually charge like 5-15 cents, but that is only for the price of the cup, and is also rare.

HAVE FUN!

Ok, I've seen people bring in sandwhiches all the time--but I remember distictly one guest who brought frozen dinners asking if there was a microwave somewhere. Actually, at the time I saw them, they were more like 'slightly cool' dinners.

If there are people who like hot tea, my personal favorite (especially at EPCOT in December before Illuminations) is to bring your favorite Tea bags and ask for Hot Water--which is also free.

I'm sure they wouldn't want you to bring in a full picnic basket (which I've seen someone take into the movies before) ...just some light snacks and drinks.

We've never had problems bringing food in even after the searching all the backpacks rule. One security guard looked in the bottom of my stroller at MGM (the kids rode the tram with their dad and there was no kid in it at the time since I walked), but otherwise they only want to look in the bag. To save time, you could have all the pockets open since they have to check in them.

Once I went into MK with my sister and our combined 4 children, all of whom were under 5 at the time. We brought so many snacks, raincoats, changes of clothes, diapers, and cameras that the security guard asked us how long we were planning to stay!

Last time we used a "rolling" backpack... and put EVERYTHING in it. We had snacks & water (bottled is a must since the drinking fountain water is terrible), autograph books/pens, wet wipes, rain gear, pennies & quarters for the machines, and our cameras (still & video). It would have been extremely heavy to carry it all day, so the rolling option was a God-send. When we got on rides, we just collapsed the handle and carried it like a regular backpack. Highly recommended if you want to save your shoulders/back.
