Back to the Future the ride

I'm there with you. I remember as a kid seeing this in the movie theatre in 1985. I loved the movie and was sad to see it go. I do like the Back to the future ride better than the Simpsons ride, but I'm sure the younger generation would say the opposite.

I'm probably in that younger generation you speak of. And I would prefer BTTF over Simpsons. Just was a great ride to me.

Alton Towers is a good day out! (although not been for a few years) ;) Not up to the level of Disney/Universal, but in terms of other parks...

The Smiler is looking interesting...

You do know what's going on and planned at UO right?.....

iMO Uni are doing virtually everything right and Disney should be worried as hell....
How you could compare UO to Alton towers (a slightly better themed six flags) astounds me.

I wasn't the original poster who mentioned Alton Towers.

Is it a good park for when you're stuck in the UK? - yes, it is.
Is it anywhere near as good as WDW/UOR/SWO? - no, it's not (as I said in the post you quoted)

Am I aware of what's going on/planned at UOR right now? Yes, and that's why I'm more looking forward to UOR than WDW for our next holiday at the moment...

Alton Towers looks to be easily the best park in the UK.

Probably, and I think it may be the highest attended as well?

And, I believe that I have read somewhere that Alton Towers has managed to have at least one new attraction open every season since it was opened - which is another reason why it is annoying when WDW can go years without adding an attraction to a park (however, I understand the difference between Alton Towers and WDW, and that Alton Towers needs to keep providing new attractions and WDW can manage to coast by without them@)

Whoops... Sorry didn't notice that....

Alton towers possibly is the best park in the UK if you can look past the chavs...
But it's not hard to be the best park in the UK.... Thorpe park is catching up but even with those two their both about as good as knotts berry farm.... They might be on a par with Busch gardens less the animals.

Unjversal is light years ahead of Alton towers.

It's fine, just wanted to make sure that you knew.

As I said, I've not been for a few years (I think the last time I was there was in 2008), but yeah, it's better than Flamingoland and Blackpool - haven't made it to Thorpe Park yet.

But yeah, Universal is a lot better than Alton Towers

Yeah, it's not even a fair comparison, haha. Nobody pulls off "theme park" like Universal or Disney.

I do have to say that Busch Gardens (VA and FL), Silver Dollar City, Dollywood and then some foreign parks like Europa Park and Efteling all seem to have incredible theming, attractions, maintaince and service.

Yeah, if we are talking top tier parks, I would have to include the SeaWorld/Busch Gardens parks up there with them (Busch Gardens probably more so than SeaWorld in terms of looks, but with Antarctica, it seems that SWO is trying to improve)

Well at least they wrote in a nod to BTTF in the Simpson ride in the form of the dinosaur trying to 'eat' you. And they've got Doc Brown making a cameo in the preshow. Sorry, video is pretty bad but you get the idea:

I was mortified when they decided to get rid of BTTF. Absolutely loved the ride, but I can understand why they felt it was time to change it. It was looking rather dated. I suppose they could have updated it if they had been able to convince Christopher Lloyd and Tom Wilson to come back, but Tom Wilson looks completely different, and I don't think it would have been as popular somehow. It's a massive shame.

Also, yes, we near the year 2015! I wish we did have hover cars and hover boards, that would be cool. Some idiots on facebook have tried to alter the panel in the DeLorian to read 2013 for some reason, posting 'This is the year Marty comes back to the future!' Uhm, NO. Fail.

I think they should build a BTTF launch coaster ride...traveling 88mph!

Why this has never been done is beyond me.

It has never been done because, well, you know what happens at 88 mph! Western Union would be delivering a lot of 70 year old lawsuits to Universal! "Are you James Schamus? ...I've got something for you!" ;)

JK, that would make a great ride!

I was gutted when they announced BTTF was coming out.it was one of my favorites but even il admit it was looking severly dated.:(
Now I must admit I last watched the simspsons when the movie came out, loved the movie but I dont find the series funny anymore, I like many others find family guy much more entertaining.but I love the simpsons ride and im really looking forward to the new additions.sure they could have chosen something else to go in the bttf building, transformers couod have if they gutted the building but its all worked out brilliantly.plus isnt the simpsons still huge in the US?

And speaking as another fellow brit.Alton Towers is by far the leading theme park in the UK, and its getting there with its themeing, Hex to me is very well presented, but no it cant hold a candle to wdw or uso.
But who knows we might get there.look at all the world/Europe's 1st we've had at Alton Towers alone for instance, Air was Europe's 1st flying coaster, Oblivion I believe was the 1st of its kind, 13 is a world 1st too I think.not to mention Colossus and Saw at Thorpe Park.they just lack themeing thats all.
