I'm planning a surprise Anniversary/Birthday WDW trip in September for my wife and my then to be one year old daughter. My question is, as much as we've enjoyed the parks in the past, BD (before daughter), I know this will be a vastly different experience. Are there any rides that people feel are better for younger kids? I know that some rides do the child pass thing, where Parent 1 rides, then takes the child while Parent 2 rides, but is there a list of those rides anywhere? Thanks for all the help.

Hello,

We took our daughter for her first trip when she was a little over a year. It was fun, and you're right that it's a different experience. I loved seeing her face the first time she saw fireworks, and Mickey Mouse, etc. But there were more breaks & nap times.

Baby swap rides as listed on Disney's website. Definitely take advantage:

Magic Kingdom Park
Frontierland
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Splash Mountain

Storybook Circus
The Barnstormer

Tomorrowland
Space Mountain
Stitch’s Great Escape
Tomorrowland Indy Speedway

Epcot
Future World
Mission: SPACE
Soarin'
Test Track

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Star Tours® - The Adventures Continue
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park
DINOSAUR
Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain®
Kali River Rapids
Primeval Whirl

When we took our daughter, our favorite rides with her were: It's a Small World, Dumbo, Peter Pan, the carousel, & Philharmagic (she actually wore the glasses and was in awe!). Have fun!!

I will also be vacationing with my 18 month old later this year. Although it will be her first trip should I opt to purchase her first set of Mickey Mouse ears or wait?

I think that is so specific to each child. Is she one who likes to wear hats? If not she'll be throwing these off the first chance she gets. Also, will she need sun protection in the form of a real hat? Would the ears fit over that? Perhaps another option would be to get a Disney inspired outfit instead. Have a wonderful time!

We will also be making a trip with our son who will be a little over 18 months at the time of our trip. Where are some good places in each park to go and allow him to rest/nap?

Has she had her "1st haircut" yet? Both my sons had their 1st haircuts done at the MK barbershop when they were 15 and 18-months. They made it very special...saved the hair, certificate, pixie dust, and mouse ears with embroiled "1st haircut" on the back. It was a special way to commemorate the event. But if that's not something you want to do, you could always get her 1st mouse ears to have (for photo ops) and have her wear a sun bonnet). They also have baby hats with soft mouse ears attached that might provide a bit more sun protection. But you only have your 1st visit to MK once :):)
