So the places in blue are not going anywhere, so for the 2 rides that leaves 3.5 acres or approximately 155,570 sq. ft.

View attachment 850952

For comparison...
Haunted Mansion including queue 87,506.17 ft²
IASW including gift shop 90,806.82 ft²
RSR 243,575.14 ft²

Does anyone know what those buildings in blue are? I really wish they'd just routed the Red Cars around the other side of Guardians and made it work. It sure looks like they have plenty of flex space to move things around

Skippable? I do think DCA at least has a brighter future than DHS with Avengers, Coco and Pandora essentially being a DCA 3.0 transformation.
Well… you can’t ship them either! Haha. Silly spell check.

I’m speaking of the current parks.

At DCA the only unique things I want to see are World of Color, 5& Dime band, and monsters. The trolley, Pixar orchestra, and Hyperion theatre added a lot to the lineup.

I think Radiator Springs and Grizzly Rapids are both quality. Definitely miss having a real show in the Hyperion though

Ah yes - Radiator Springs too (the entire land) - I totally forgot about it.

I’ve never ridden rapids cause I don’t want to get soaked - but i do enjoy walking that area.

Certainly it’s worth the price if you’ve never been - but for me it’s currently a skip - with world of color being the possible exception for me.

But for the time being...I only go there for Animation Academy and RSR. Everything else there feels like it belongs in a copycat park rather than an actual Disney park. The kind of park where you go "wow, they really were going for that Disney touch for this ride and they almost got it." But it is Disney. And it has the same ticket price as the park next door with Indiana Jones Adventure, Rise of the Resistance, Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Pinocchio, Haunted Mansion, Alice in Wonderland, Runaway Railway, etc.

Yeah broadly I agree, though while I prefer ToT thematically I do think Guardians of the Galaxy is clearly superior to "copycat parks." I suppose that depends on if you mean the amusement park class of Six Flags/Cedar Fair or if you mean Universal. I'd say Universal has definitively graduated beyond "copycat" class but that discussion is probably best had outside the Avenger's Campus thread.

Outside of ToT there really isn't all that much that's clearly a cut above domestic alternatives. While I love GRR you can definitely find quality rafting experiences elsewhere. I guess Little Mermaid or Soarin' would be the only other contenders but in their current state I don't think they're clear cut exceptions either.

There's probably no bigger gulf between two parks at any of Disney's resorts around the world. I did find it rather curious that Disneyland has seen so much recent investment with Galaxy's Edge, MMRR, and Tiana's while DCA remains such a clear lesser option.

I hope Disney chooses to develop the Simba lot plot of DisneylandForward before the northern plot because even after this next tranche of DCA "3.0," the gulf between the two parks will remain significant. Probably won't happen if they plan to maximize the space within the parks' current boundaries but based on need I'd go:

1. DisneylandForward South (Simba lot)
2. Tomorrowland re-do
3. DisneylandForward North

Mission BO is okay, but it definitely doesn't feel up to the Disney standard. When people point to bad modern Disney rides like WEB Slingers or the Avengers stuff in the overseas parks; this is the seed of that mediocrity.

If Disney made DCA $20-$30 cheaper, everyone would be happier. And maybe that's why Disney changed Splash to Tiana; they were trying to nerf their park by downgrading a classic into a crappic.

I agree it's not to the standard of Disney's best, but there's still a huge gap between that and the amusement park tier

lol very cynical, but perhaps not wrong?
