I guess I would need to see the jokes to weigh in.

As for why he's in the park? This is aimed to be one of the top 5 films of the year. The only Marvel film of the year. The character is incredibly popular. Disney would be foolish to ignore him.

Loki is a fan of genocide and he fits in the parks. Starlord makes references to his cockpit looking like a Jackson Pollack painting under blacklight and is in the parks. When choosing to have Marvel in the parks you are choosing to have more of a teenage sense of humor and questionable morals.

These are characters who try and violently cause brain damage to solve their problems. Or just straight up murder. All while trading light hearted jokes. It's a land devoted to violent sociopaths so it's obviously going to be a different time than the park inspired by 80-year old cartoons based upon Fairy Tales.

I think the issue people have is that Deadpool's humor in the films and comics blows past any other character marvel has depicted on screen.

It's the entire point of the character to be subversive and R rated.

I don't care that Deadpool is depicted since it's in DCA anyways- so who cares. If he was walking around Tomorrowland I'd probably have a stronger opinion.

Most classic Disney villains were attempted murderers with their own sense of humor, too.

Evil Queen - tried to have her stepdaughter's heart cut out of her chest, then tried to poison her
Maleficent - cursed a baby to die because she wasn't invited to the christening
Cruella - wanted to skin puppies to make a coat
Gaston - tried to kill the Beast
Scar - killed his brother
Hades - god of the underworld
etc.

But they're not reading stories to children at the park with adult innuendo.

I never took issue with Star Wars or Marvel joining the Disney storytelling universe or the parks since they are ALL about mythical heroes and villains. Spider-Man's origin story is one of the greatest morality tales ever. And as pure-hearted a concept as anything Disney made.

Yes, Marvel has had certain content onscreen that does not get focused on in the parks. Tony had a stripper pole on his airplane, not at Avengers Headquarters. I wouldn't want She-Hulk teaching kids twerking lessons on Campus either.

Pretty Woman was a hugely successful Disney film, too. Do we need hooker and john characters in the parks? Or maybe, some things that are R-rated could just be kept aimed at an older audience?

I didn't question WHY Deadpool was at the park. Just HOW they were selling him there as "family friendly" and "suitable for all ages," when that character simply is not.

The Deadpool in the parks family friendly and suitable for all ages. It's just silly fun.

And you pointed out animated villains from fantastic realms. I'm talking about live action heroes often presented in our real world.

Deadpool definitely has more of a "universal studios" edge of humor, but I never find Universal Studios to not be family friendly and suitable for all ages. I think the interactions are fun and not anything to clutch pearls over.

So what these examples of murderous Fantasyland villains, Star Wars characters, and other Avengers point to is that it's not the killing that bothers some parents, it's his potty mouth. Which he is not exhibiting in the park. And can easily be avoided anyway. So why can't the rest of us have him?

Exactly. Its like when Universal put Beetlejuice into the parks. He's still "uncouth," but nowhere near where he is in the original film. The theme park version of a character can be a more accessible rendition of the film character. Cruella isn't out there snatchin' up service animals and Frollo isn't biting his lip whenever a girl with a crop top walks by.

Good news is that we can have him at DL. And the those who don't like it can walk on by while clutching their pearls.

You do have him. I've never advocated for not having him. I've said since before he appeared that he and Wolverine would be an entertaining add to the stunt show.

I just don't agree that sex jokes and jokes about the F-word while reading stories to kids is actually "family friendly" and "suitable for all ages". I don't have that issue when Peter Pan and Wendy are reading stories to kids in the park. In fact, that's one of my favorite things to see. Because it's very Disney. And genuinely family friendly and suitable for all ages.

I also don't see characters actually trying to murder anyone in the parks, so not sure why "it's not the killing that bothers some parents" applies. If I saw blood and guts at Disney parks, I'd call that out as not family friendly, too.

I’m not for Deadpool or even Guardians in the parks but all 3 Star Wars attractions involve characters trying to kill the guests.
lol Can you tell I've never been on them? :D

Nonetheless, it doesn't have to do with character interactions with kids, which is what I was discussing. The worst that Vader or Loki or Kang or Gaston have tried to do is make me declare my loyalty to them. :) And kids get a kick out of facing their fears and confronting the "bad guys" at the park and telling them they're the bad guys and the heroes will win. But yeah, still haven't seen them try to kill anyone. Yet. :D

Also… genie would make a few questionable jokes in the Aladdin show.

Again, I’m 100% against deadpool being in anyway associated with the Disney brand - at least Eisner didn’t have a “family friendly” kids meet n greet at the parks.

But the actual show isn’t particularly shocking - and at least he got a splash mountain joke in. Ha

I saw Aladdin a fair amount at the Hyperion. I don't remember sex jokes. But hey, I could've missed them!

As long as Deadpool isn’t being raunchy at the park it’s not offensive to me. Not a character I’d chose to have walking around a Disney park but not offensive. Helps that’s he’s at AC at DCA. I also haven’t seen any of the Deadpool movies but know a little about the character. I will say that it’s been pretty clear that for the last few years the parks and company are being run by Childless Progressive people and they are just creating their own Fantasyland. It’s clear as day.

Interesting take as both Iger and D'Amaro are married and have kids.
