Autographs

I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy an autograph book. My DH2B and I are going on our honeymoon in August and I'm wondering if we would use an autograph book. I know that there probably are other adults who go to WDW without kids who get character autographs but I was just wondering about all of you. Do you as adults get character autographs? Also, does anyone know where we could get a relatively cheap autograph book online prior to our trip if we decide to use one?

I don't get autographs, but I do get pictures. If you don't often visit the world, then I suggest getting an autograph/picture book. We bought one for niece this past Christmas and she LOVES it!

She shows all her kindergarten friends her pics with Buzz, Cindy, and Mickey and then shows off their signature! It was fun watching her get them all too!

She told Mickey his autograph was, "easier than a Braves player at her school."

We never have gotten autographs before, but plan to on our next trip. I plan to use the autographs in a scrapbook, so I bought a 5 x 7 sketch book so that they will be on nice paper and easy to tear out.

I haven't seen these photo-autograph books that you guys mention but they sound like fun. Where could I get one before our trip? Are their any sold online?

I don't know if you scrapbook at all, but if you do you may want to go to a craft store and get a small book that's scrapbook safe and the correct pen to go with so that you can put the autograph right into your scrapbook when you get home. Then on the same page or the opposite you can put a picture of you two on the opposite page. That's what I do on my vacations.

These books are quite a bit cheaper as well!

Autographs are fun, if for only seeing how the different characters sign. Most characters have their own "official signnature" and they can be really cute. Our oldest absolutely loves getting her book signed, so we let her do all the meet and greets, but my DH and I fully intend to keep getting autographs on our trips without the kids.

Even better, and this has already been partly-mentioned...

Downtown Disney has a scrapbooking store. Hit them up before you go to the parks, create pages every morning/evening, and bring them in the park with you, along with the scrap book. They even have a scrapbooking kit that's themed for the parks.

And for the record, as a "friend" of mice, you wouldn't be the first honeymooners to do this! It makes the experience more magical, I think.

Well I think we're going to do autographs. However, we aren't much for scrapbooking. I think I'd rather go with one of those photo-autograph books if we can find one at a reasonable price.

You will find these books everywhere. I tried in vain to get on before my trip to save some time but could not. I had never noticed how prevalent they were in prior trips since I never wanted one. It was around $10, maybe a little more. My 4 yo loved it.

You might bring your own pen, the pens they sell are neato, but steep.

As for getting them without kids, do what you want and have fun.

The one disadvantage to those books is the amount of space. If you get the books that has a lot of space on one side, and the picture sleeve on the other, then you won't have much room for pictures and autographs. If you get the books with more picture space, the autograph space is small for many characters.

Oh, and get a Sharpie for autographs. A REGULAR sized Sharpie. I doubt they have the gold books and pens anymore, but if they have anything similar, those pens are horrible to use.

If you do use a shapie, you may want to get a thin piece of cardboard (like the peices in new bedsheets) to put behind the page they sign on. It will soak up the bleed giving you more useable pages.

These are all great tips. Thank you for your help.

The search for one continues. I found some online but they are asking too much for them. It's nice to know that they are about 10 bucks in the parks.

This is a great idea. That's what we'll do.

Would the bleeding be a problem with these particular books since there seems to be plastic on the next page where you put a picture?

I didn't even think of that as I have never used the picture/autograph books, just plain autograph.

Also, if you want, you could print the pictures with the characters out in wallet size and use an acid-free glue to go back and add them in on the page with the signature. Just another thought so you can have more pages for autographs.

I should have specified...a retractible Sharpie is a favorite. In a dark color. With light colored paper.

...not that I'd know or anything...:lookaroun

Sorry to bump - just didn't want to star a new thread for this simple question:
Why does Buzz Lightyear use a stamp to sign autographs? We told our pastor's son we would bring back Cuzz's autograph for him, and I just read somewhere that he stamps instead of signs it. He has gloves that would make him able to hold a pen - doesn he?

It is kind of hard to explain...you'll just have to look closely at his hands to see what I am talking about....his sleeve kind of covers half of his hand and there is some kind of seperator between his thumb and first finger that would make it hard to hold a pen. The Incrdedibles also use a stamp, but I did not look closely enough at their hands to see why.

Just get an autograph book. It's not that much $. Then you'll have an extra memory. I've been there 6 times, everytime I got an autograph book. I even used 2 in some trips.:lookaroun
