I am so happy my family went to the Disney store yesterday and my ds (10) said he needs a new autograph book! YEA! (he's not too old) So we got him a really nice notebook with Mickey on the cover (already packed). We don't get the regular autograph books but a special blank book. What do you get and how much longer will I be this lucky?

My girls are still 'little kids,' ages 6 and 3, so they're very much about the autograph books (especially DD3). For this past trip, I didn't want to waste more money on the run-of-the-mill Disney licensed book, so I made the girls and their cousin, their very own, complete with personalization. I thought it turned out well: took a 5x7 photo album & removed 1/2 of the cellophane sleeves; then, I decorated the 'autograph page' with specific characters. It turned into a game to see which characters we got and who we needed!

However, during our most recent trip, DD6 got involved with pin trading...

For a pin trader I would get pins in bulk from Ebay much cheaper! My ds discovered pin trading about 5 years ago durring Year of a Million Dreams when we got the pins and lanyard set. Pins add up quickly.

Our kids still like getting autographs, too. Our son will be 10 on our next trip and our daugther turns 8 after we get back. They still look forward to meeting their favorite characters!

We just started the autograph thing with DS6 in 2011 when he was 5. Prior to that we tried but he was truthfully so petrified of characters it was mostly just mommy getting the autographs. He's completely come out of his shell this year though so I have a feeling we'll be autograph hunting when we (HOPEFULLY) go in March (he'll be 3 weeks from 7 then).

The autograph book he has is one we got from Disney when we did one of the in-room birthday parties for him on his 3rd birthday. It's just the standard blue and came with the cool little Mickey ear pen.

We did autograph books on our girls' first trip (ages 2 and 4 at the time). I made them from cute little journals. I even gave each of the characters I knew we'd be seeing 2-6 pages with their names and stickers. The cost was a tad less and we had a whole lot more pages. The only downside, it was a real pain getting to the right pages come M&G time. My girls really didn't get too into it and didn't ask to do it again...but they did really enjoy pin trading.

We did an autograph book for daughter(one month shy of 4) on our last trip. We bought a princess notebook & decorated it with stickers. She loved it & wants to get even more next time we go!

Oh figmentfan... I got to tell you I was grateful to grow out of this stage... WE have 4 kids between 10-20, and I think for 5 years we spent half our vacation chasing character's. I finally realized it was worth it to go to the character dinners just to get the autographs and pics. I guess I may miss it as they all start to become adults, but at this point I am grateful to be passed the stage... :)

I made my daughter an autograph book from a hard bound spiral art book. It tore apart pretty easily on the trip despite having it in a ziploc bag. Any particular kind work well for not tearing apart???

I did pick up the autograph book and pin lanyard set from the Disney store online because they were offering 25% off authentic merchandise. DD is excited to get some autographs and new pins! Thanks for the idea to check ebay for more pins!

My daughter was gifted a beautiful patchwork quilt with tons of different characters on it. The woman who made it left little white patches all over it. She said it was an autograph quilt!! We took it to the parks with a fabric pen and now it's covered with memories! She sleeps with it every night. By far the best memoir we gave from our trips.

Now that's a great idea!

I have just recently started to do quilting and I think I am going to steal this idea! How AWESOME!

Luckily my children love the characters and my dd (12) even asked for an autograph book for Christmas! This year my 14 year old dd wants to bring a plain tote bag to have all the characters sign. It should make a great keep sake!

Sadly I think this was my last year. DD is 10 and did not want one this year, did not even want her picture taken with anyone....DS is 9, lost interest after 2 or 3 signatures and told me we can reuse this book next time.

We did the autograph book the first trip for our older daughter, but my wife came up with some different ideas for the first few trips with our youngest (1 and 2 yo). The first time she took a 11x14 photo mat that she had all of the characters sign, and then put one of our family pics in it. The next time she bought a couple of small wooden square picture frames that we had the characters sign with different color sharpies. We filled up 2 frames and now have them in our daughter's room.

We have always had the standard blue autograph book but for our next trip I have decided to (try) and be a little more creative.
I am attempting to make one. I am going to print what I have done on A5 cards and get a photo with both DD's with the character. I will then put them together in a book.
I am quite excited about it all but tbh I didn't realise how much work it would be lol.
