Auto-train question on low clearance

I've tried to find details, but haven't managed to find an answer, so I'll ask here.

The auto-train from Lorton, VA to Sanford, FL appeals to me as an option to driving Ottawa-WDW. On the Amtrak website they say vehicles must have a minimum 4" clearance... Well, mine has exactly 4" clearance!

Can anyone with experience using the auto-train tell me if I'll be OK? Obviously, I don't want to get there and have them refuse to load my car, but I'd also not be crazy about damaging the car either...

If it helps, I'll be driving a BMW Z4.

Thanks,

I have my answer!

I received a reply from Amtrak:

Dear Monty Montgomery,

Thank you for contacting us.

Yes, we have taken BMW Z4 sport cars on the Auto Train before, and yes, ground clearance of 4” is fine.

We hope this information will be of assistance.

Sincerely,
Dorit

That would be a way cool trip.
We wanted to do the same thing to see our duaghter in Princeton NJ but it would take longer than driving and it only went as far a DC I think.

The train goes to/from Lorton, VA. For me it'll reduce my total trip time by moving me more than half way while I'm able to sleep. The 16.5 hours on the train is covering ground that I'd have to get a room somewhere in. It's roughly 24 hours drive time Ottawa to Disney. I can't reasonably drive straight through, but using the train I can get there is about 28 hours and be rested and ready when we arrive at Disney.

DS12 can't swap off on the driving just yet...

I've done the Autotrain before with an SUV... and if the SUV can fit, I'm damned sure the Z4 can :)

My worry was the 4" ground clearance... They have assured me I won't bottom out :D
