If you have been in the summer months any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I highly recommend taking it eaaaaasy. Enjoy some nice relaxing meals in the AC, peruse the shops as much as you can, get FPs for the lines that are rough to wait for in the heat (BTMRR, Splash, etc), drink lots of water and replace your electrolytes whether it's from Gatorade or Powerade or Smart Water, and take time to relax in your room or at the pool mid afternoon, take advantage of the parks when the sun sets. Most important, lots of sunscreen.

Enjoy and have a great trip!!!

We always go in August. We've never had a problem. Everyone wears a baseball cap to protect your head and sunglasses. Drink water. Actually, just drink anything to stay hydrated. Enjoy the a/c of the attractions, shops and restaurants. We're still psycho-excited to be there since we only get to go once a year - so we spend every day in the parks. We enjoy the pool at night (when nobody gets burned). It's fun. It's hot. It's WDW. Just goop up with sunscreen, drink, enjoy and you will be fine and have a magical time!

While it will be hot, there will also be rain. I recommend bringing either flip flops or an extra pair of socks and shoes. I like switching to flip flops when it's about to rain, then putting my shoes back on when everything dries up. As others said, take your time and don't burn yourself out by mid afternoon.

In addition to staying hydrated don't forget the sunscreen!
FYI, the water fountains in the Magic Kingdom are terrible. Even if there are multiple spouts there is only enough water pressure to run one at the time so you have to ask people to coordinate or NOBODY gets any water.

You can get free cups of ice water or fill your water bottle at all QST restaurants to help with staying hydrated. If you don't like the taste of the water you can bring some crystal light packets or something similar to add.I would try and be at the park at opening, have a few hours break at your hotel in the afternoon, when the heat and the crowds are the worst, and stay in the park till late.

The best pair of shoes I had for rain were a pair of cloth sandals with EVA soles. The guys had on 'hiking sandals' of some sort. So when they got wet, it wasn't a big deal. I am not a fan of socks and summer at WDW.

Bring a poncho to wear. If it rains you will be happy you have it. I do not like the dollar store ponchos as they feel like wearing a garbage bag. I bought some on Amazon that were more breathable than the cheapy ones.

We often go back in the afternoon for a break - maybe a light sit down for lunch too. Rest and enjoy the pool then head back when it cools a little.

Get to the parks early--the 8 am Extra Magic Hours are wonderful as it is routinely sunny but not oppressively hot from 8 am to about 10 am. By the time all the fools are arriving at 10:30 or 11 and the parks are getting crowded, we've already been on a ton of rides and are contemplating lunch and a return to the resort to swim.

Plan a FP for a water ride during the heat of the day and save shows with A/C for then.
