Does anyone know IF the August hours on the WDW website will be updated? It seems to be incomplete? I know the parade should be showing nightly right at the MK?

www.disneyworld.com only lists park hours, not parades fireworks etc. The calendar here has the parade and firework times listed.

Actually, they generally do list parades, fireworks, and other scheduled shows. Click on any day in the calendar view and it usually shows you a list of scheduled events for the day. See, for example:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/magic-kingdom/calendardayview/?asmbly_day=20100723

For the month of August, however, the parade (Spectro/MSEP) showtimes are conspicuously absent. The only reason for this I can think of is that they are supposed to switch back from MSEP to Spectro around the middle of the month, and rumor has it that may not happen - that MSEP may stick around for a while. If that's the case, the fact that it hasn't been officially announced (AFAIK anyway) implies that they're saving it for a "surprise", and given the choice between "giving it away" by publishing an accurate schedule, "lying" to guests (some of whom may be anxiously awaiting Spectro's return) by publishing the current "official" schedule, or just keeping mum, they chose the last option.

In any case, I personally have found the information at the WDW web site to be less than 100% reliable. And as others have said, it's subject to change. The same should obviously be kept in mind if you use a third-party information source like the one here at WDWMagic.

They had Spectromagic up on the Disney World site for the past 3 months. The fact that they removed it just tells me that they're preparing to replace it with the MSEP. Which I will watch...while listening to Spectro on my iPod.

You are correct. They had removed it. And it is now back on the Disney site effective 8/15 as Spectromagic. They do NOT have MSEP listed for the days in August, however. Until the last day or so, they had NO parade listed at all in August. Personally, I'm hoping MSEP does stay past 8/14. I'm only going to be able to squeeze 1 or 2 visits in that last week (assuming it's really still going on). I was hoping for a longer run, so I could plan a trip for it next year. It is still odd. And no doubt, subject to change.

I've been planning a mid August trip for the past 4 months, and every time I've checked the official site calendar it's listed Spectromagic and Wishes for Aug 15 onwards. I'm not sure where you've been looking that it hasn't been showing it.

It's just been changing lately and causing confusion. At one point yesterday there were neither MSEP nor Spectro listed for any night in August. Later, evidently, Spectro had been returned on dates after August 15, but no parade was listed for nights the first half of the month. I'm looking at August 10 right now as an example, and at this moment it doesn't show any nighttime parade:

Yeah, that's strange. The 14th had been showing MSEP for the longest time, and that's our arrival date...so we could see the Nightastic fireworks and MSEP before they "went away". Now I'm kinda frustrated!

In your case, I don't think you should be too worried about it. I'm reasonably certain that MSEP will be running on the 14th. The real uncertainty surrounds what happens beyond that.

Wishes and Spectro are both officially (last I heard) supposed to resume on either the 15th or the 16th (don't know if the 15th is the last day of Summer Nightastic, or the first day of "normal" entertainment). In other threads, I've read that SNFS could not be extended even if Disney wanted to because they only bought enough material to run through the scheduled dates. I don't know how reliable that is, but that's what I've heard - and not from any inside sources but right here at WDWMagic.

MSEP, on the other hand, had been rumored to be sticking around beyond its official end in the middle of August. I've heard nothing to suggest, nor do I think there's any reason in the world to expect, that MSEP will wrap up early. I really think the only questions are will it be staying longer than scheduled, and if so how much longer. So, as I said, I think you've probably got nothing to worry about, at least as far as missing MSEP.

If you were hoping to be around to catch the triumphant return of SpectroMagic, well, that may be a different story...
