August Crowds

So I usually visit late Feb early March or late April early May.,, this year I am visiting from August 15th for two weeks as it's a 'whole family' trip and my eldest nephews had their last year at school... what can I expect from crowds? Seems different crowd calanders tell me different levels of crowds and I haven't been in August for nearly 20 years!

August hasnt changed. Its still going to be heavily crowed in the beginning of the month but gets better towards the end as schools get into session. Your timing should be good, Disney still will have plenty of visitors but you will have lesser wait times. It still will be busier on the weekends. Weather wise it will be hot, humid and uncomfortable.

I have visited many times at the end of August and the crowd level is quite manageable. I would stay away from the MK on the weekends and either take a resort day or visit another park. The weather, as stated above will be Hot .....Hot and Hotter and Humid ...Humid and more Humid. Now that the kids are grown, we never go from June-October. September is just as hot and humid as August if not more so. But if you must go during that time of year, be sure to hydrate and take advantage of the air conditioning on various rides, in restaurants and shops. Have a Magical Trip ! :cat:

Thanks both!

ideally I would avoid this time of year but my oldest nephews have just finished school and my youngest two are just starting out.

I expected it would be busy and then start to tail off a little towards the end of August... expecting to hate the heat compared to when I usually go but as you say take advantage of the air con!

I swore off summer in general back in the early 2000's. Then, in 2015 we celebrated our 1 yr wedding anniversary at WDW. We were there the first week of August and I was pleasantly surprised! So much so that we are going in August this year as well! Yes, it was hot, but nothing that wasn't manageable.

Good to hear! Going for our first August visit (first week to be exact) and I was a bit concerned. With the kids in school (and us not wanting to take them out of school) the options were limited. I'm expecting heat and crowds, but the way people talk about "busy" sometimes makes it seem like Armageddon!

We are there 99% of the time in August - usually late August. Yes, it's hotter than if you went during another season, but you'll be fine. It always works out & you'll have a memorable, magical trip. No worries. Enjoy every pre-trip & during trip moment. :)
(There is no such thing as enjoying any post-WDW-trip experience. Ever. Until you're back.)

This is going to be a special trip for us as it's my entire family... 10 of us including my 5 & 6 year old nephews who have never left the UK before... going to be interesting to see how they react to the heat... personally I find it much easier to come with heat in Florida than i do with heat in the UK lol
