how are the crowds around aug 10th to the 17th? cuz i went there last year at that time an the parks were relatively empty. i was wondering if maybe we just got lucky and it usually is very crowded or if the crowds are usually low then.

We were there last year Aug 13 to 22, I didn't think it was all that empty. (Hey we both missed the black outs.:) ) The rain was just so bad it really got in the way of getting much done. So really it wasn't the crowds, it was the continual rain. Crowds I know how to manage. One hour of rain I can handle. It rained more then it wasn't raining.

I won't be going again in Aug, I perfer winter, yes you have chances of it being chilly, but not as rainy. This Jan 1 to 7 it was in the 80's and sunny most days.

I was there the third week of August & I thought it was very crowded.

No more winter vacations for us because the kids are too big to take out of school.

Thin crowds in August may be an anamoly. The economy appears to be getting better so I think people are starting to go back to the parks. So I think August will be back to it's normal crowded ways. I personally would never go in August because I cannot even begin to imagine the humidity. Yuck!!

when we went we almost never waited more than 20 minutes for anything and we rode almost every ride in the park. we waited 5 minutes for rock n roller coaster and like 10 for test track. splash mountain was the worst it was a 45 minute wait

The good thing about August is that the Florida heat causes brain damage, so most people forget how long they waited on line for the attractions.

On a serious note :lookaroun , I was there once in early August and it was pretty crowded. But the late hours made up for it. Also, the water parks are great in August.

Since my wife is a teacher and the family is busy with summer swim teams, we always go the middle or end of August. We've been there at that time 9 out of the last 12 years.

Every trip, until last year, we never experienced very long lines or heavy crowds (except for Splash & Space Mountain or MK on the weekends). Normally, the weather (although very hot & humid) has not been bad as far as rain is concerned, a few short showers every day or so but nothing torrential. I'd have to say that last year (2003) we endured the worst crowds and rain that we have ever encountered.

Maybe the economy has improved but we were there for many pre-9/11 years and never experienced the crowds like like year. My best guess is that the special offer (Magical Moments?) Disney had last year that got people seven days for the cost of four was very successful in getting people into WDW. I'm hoping when we go again this August that the crowds (and weather!) are back to normal this year when we go.

I went mid-August in 2001 and the crowds were low. The only thing was it was hotter than you know what!! But with the low crowds you could go back to your hotel and swim to cool off.
