Rather than focus on properties/themes of rides, there's a ride platform that I'm dying to see Disney (or Universal, for that matter) use:
The Gerstlauer Eurofighter.
For those unfamiliar, the Eurofighter platform and its Infinitycoaster derivatives are essentially single-train rollercoaster systems with extensive computer monitoring, so they can run several cars through multiple fast/slow sections simultaneously. So far, the cars can seat up to 8 people and are just as suited to doing slow-paced dark ride scenes as they are top-level rollercoaster maneuvers. Its ability to wallow through overbanked corners or drop below the vertical is practically unmatched. The two main examples of this system being used for thematic/storytelling purposes so far are Mystery Mine at Dollywood and The Curse of Novgorod at Hansa Park in Germany. These are true dark ride/coaster hybrids, arguably more versatile and interesting than the various Revenge of the Mummy rides Universal has built, and I feel like we've just scratched the surface of what this ride system is capable of doing.
