Attractions in the future:What I would love to see....

As a CM working at Big Thunder Mountain (with a masters degree on a hiatus from a corporate job that just about did me in), I had lots of time to think and ask questions. Intuition told me that in order to keep guests coming back (not in terms of Visits but in terms of Generations!) some things needed to always remain the same and some things would need to change.

This was specially true as Universal Studios was eating away at your market share (and wait until they finish the expansion of Harry Potter!)

So this thread is meant to gather ideas of the attractions of the future you would love to see. Who knows, maybe some imagineer out there will grab a hold of a nugget and run with it?!

So here we go...

I would love to see Hollywood Studios do a salute to horror movies that we grew up with....yep...horror movies....but not by creating some king of fancy scary haunted house. This would be different. How this could be done without scaring is the challenge.

I would love to see something cutting edge done on Tom Sawyers Island.

At Epcot, the addition of more countries! Possibly Thailand, One of the islands in Polynesia, Russia (yes....nutty but true), South Africa and Argentina!

and of course Animal Kingdom can always add another Mountain?!

Your thoughts my fellow lovers of all that simply "started with a mouse"!

I'd love to see AK more fleshed out. It has so much potential.

A villains themed area would be FANTASTIC.

And I like your idea of a horror-genre 'land' in DHS. That poor park needs all the help it can get.

Epcot definitely could use a few more pavilions and rides. I'll probably get skinned alive for this, but I'd love to see the entire front of the park completely redone and rethemed- even if it's a steam-punk style throwback to the 'future', I'd be ok with it. It would still be an upgrade from the mess it is right now.

There is a lot of talk about Uni taking market share and outpacing WDW on new attractions. Add a ride or section of DHS dedicated to Marvel. Disney spent the money on it, so now directly compete with Uni on a 3-d ride or something themed around the Avengers.

I would love to see more countries added to the showcase but for DHS just a huge redo maybe the starwars land and and villains land but a real state of the art place. Something that's never been done before just go a completely different approach and run it.

As for the marvel idea, there's a lot of talk and it all gets so confusing but I think I'm right in saying they can't build any marvel rides as universal IOA has them and there's all who-har with the legal side. Don't quote me but I think that's how it is

Generally that's correct. Still, I have no doubt the Disney lawyers have gone through the contracts many times, looking for any loophole they can. Smart money though is that the first Marvel characters you'll see in the parks are Big Hero 6.

You are probably correct on Marvel, I dont understand how you can own the characters and movies but, cant use them in the parks. Star Wars land is a must for DHS.

That's EXACTLY how it is, and thank god. Those dopey superheroes can only crap up Disneyland here in the States.

The Great Movie ride should get a major MAJOR upgrade. Some parts of it are pretty awesome as is, and some parts are so lame and dated it's embarrassing (yeah, I'm looking at you, Tarzan). Aside from removing The King of the Apes, I'd also take out the cheap-looking Fantasia clip and put the Cyclone from Oz in that space (as was originally intended) and make it awesome.Take out the Aliens scene and put in the interior of the Millenium Falcon, so that we can ride along with Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke, Leia and the robots as they escape from Darth Vader (when the ship goes to light speed, light and sound could be used to really hype it up. Could be fun).

They don't own all the movie rights. Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and X-Men are the big three examples. The reason for that is because before Disney bought Marvel, Marvel had farmed out licenses and sold production rights to anyone who could pay, whether that be for television, film, or miscellaneous. In the 2000s, as they'd gotten their act together, Marvel reacquired many of the rights, but not all.

It's been said before that Disney isn't interested in trying to find loopholes in their contract with Uni. They're content with Marvel solely in Anaheim and their international parks (maybe not Tokyo).

... Uh-huh. That's why they put an Iron Man exhibit in Downtown Disney. Seriously, though, I will bet you cash money (Monopoly money anyway) that Big Hero 6 does not fall under the Uni contract and that was one of the reasons why that, out of all the Marvel properties that Disney & Marvel have the film rights to, was greenlit to be the 54th Walt Disney Animated Feature. I've talked about this in another thread at length, but, at least for the past 15 years, Disney World ALWAYS represents the latest animated feature in the parks for the first few months of its release in some fashion, whether it be meet & greets, parades, or simply renaming an attraction or restaurant.

EPCOT.. back to its focus on REAL science. educate, write better scripts for the rides they have, get back to showing the past, the present, and possible future. Update the Land. Update Energy adventure. Put in more sustainable fuel/power options. Figment.. do something amazing (include the song and Dreamfinder), use new tech, make it new and equal to the old one.
Countries- new countries, yes. please. anything. Put more into the countries that are there. Add some more rides- that take you on a tour through that country, give some landmarks/history/etc. Not just more meals and more shopping.

MK- more restaurants and better food. the food there is just awful. I want some kind of dark ride through the Mickey Mouse years. Start from Steamboat, move through all the years of Mickey. Fix Tomorrowland. Get rid of Stitch, add in a Robinsons ride (which would tie in nicely), or hopefully take inspiration from the new Tommorrowland movie and wow us with something new! Clean and refurb everything. SM could use a real overhaul, as well.

HS- More rides like Tower..theming, storyline, a tie in to the "golden age" of TV, and a really good ride to boot. Great Movie Ride- fix it, refurb, get better actors- add a few new scenes.Get another ride or two that brings Hollywood to life- there are enough movies out there! Star Wars land- could be as fantastically themed as HP. Pixar place needs more rides. Monsters Inc ride, UP ride, wall-e ride through space, anything would help. Put some new shows on.

AK: Just add more. It's pretty good, but it does seem like they could put a lot more there. Maybe some educational animal dark rides- or one of those "virtual" options.. visit different ecosystems, etc.

An exhibit is different from an actual ride, and an Iron Man exhibit in Downtown Disney is no big deal to Uni. Rides/parades/restaurant names/meet and greets/whatever else in the actual parks? Don't count on it. If Big Hero 6 doesn't fall under the contract, that's probably the only Marvel you'll see in the parks, and I can barely see that happening.

Where's @lazyboy97o with that contract?

I am really liking the idea of more countries at Epcot....maybe another central water featuree that joins the original forming a figure 8. Is that possible?

I would love to see the great movie ride updated and inserted with then new "classic" films of past eras.
