Attraction Manuals/Cast Member Study Guides

Hey there,

I remember a while back the InsideTheMagic podcast did a segment on the old Alien Encounter attraction and the host went into detail with the manual about different aspects of the show, timings, what to do when stuff went wrong, effects...

Is there anywhere these can be read online? This attraction or any others? I know you can buy the 'cast member study' guides on ebay but I'm in the UK and I'd rather just read about them on my computer.

Any idea guys?

Thanks,
Mark

A bunch of them went online a few years back by a disgruntled ex CM, since then only ebay has them occassionaly.

Since they are used internally and essentially intellectual property of the company you won't see one floating around online easily.

Marni,

I assume that site where the "disgruntled" CM uploaded them has since removed them? If so, it's a shame. I, like the OP, am very interested in reading up on those things, especially the GMR and the Monorail

Yep. It went years ago. Caused a bit of a stir.

Operating Guides are intellectual property of the Walt Disney Company and are very tightly controlled. Currently, they are only very rarely printed and are mostly accessed through a locked-down internal website.

By the way, they aren't even close to light reading. Very dry, very over-written, and, with a few exceptions, very not-fun. I had to chug a cup of coffee just prior to my most recent 4-hour OG read just to maintain consciousness. And, I'm one of those people who actually rather enjoyed the assigned reading in high school and college.

Funny...you don't look like the OP. But thanks for sharing your jadedness with the rest of us.

Well I'll thank you unkadug. I hadnt come across those posts before. Theres a lot of interesting text but too much to read at this time in the morning I'll look over it tomorrow.

Any other contributions on a similar note would be gratefully appreciated :slurp:

I have a few, including the AE one.
They're kinda interesting, but not exactly full of earth-shattering information.

I don't think I am going to put my kids on the monorail any more unless they have their own fall protection.... I mean if there is a fire and we are asked to get on the roof of the train and then slide down the nose to the rail to escape the fire...... yea fall protection was just added to my kids back pack checklists.

Not to throw this discussion off topic, but if the vehicle your in is on fire, I'd be up on that roof and on the track in a heartbeat (and I'm petrified of heights)

Lee, like coolmark, if you are able/willing to somehow allow us the opportunity to see it, please let me know as I would be very interested as well. Thank you!

Good thing it was sent via PM so we couldn't read it or make statements about it........oh wait a minute......... :hammer:

What a jackass. Nobody forced you to read it again....and it wasn't re-posted, just linked to. Thanks for reaffirming your jadedness.
