Attention Stockholders

wannabelle,

Roy Disney owns just less than 1% of the total Disney stock. I've never seen any mention on how much his family/daughters/etc. own, but it probably doesn't amount to much. If it did, they would have added it to the 1% or mentioned it otherwise :)

I think from past post, he might be the around the 7th or 8th largest shareholder.

Roy Disney held 17.3 million shares of Disney and was the 17th-largest shareholder as of August, 2003. He and his family trust agreed in August to sell 43 percent of their stake, or about 7.5 million shares.

Roy now has 9.8 million shares. However, he still retains his voting rights for 5 years on the other 7.5 million shares. So, vote wise, he still has 17.3 million! At this time, he is no longer ranked as a major shareholder.

Comcast is inolved in other areas. They currently own many professional sports franchises (including Flyers and Sixers) and a few stadiums. Not that this makes them anymore prepared to run Disney, but just to clear up the point about them not doing anything but cable.

I believe the teams are considered property of the owner of Comcast, and not the company itself. If I understand it correctly, the only connection Comcast has with those is the sponsership of the stadiums, which should be owned and operated by the city.

Heading for the great escape.
. Two things that I have heard and read from a growing number of sources.

1. Majority of financial pundits think Eisner’s position is now untenable and he will be ousted at some point.

2. Rather than being a Roy plan, moves to split up the Disney empire may have already started as Eisner prepares to maximise profitability. The details were very number and business orientated, but have now started being trotted out BBC pundits too.

I just cant see how any deal could separate the parks (inc resorts) and studios and make it a viable propisition for investors.

If you want Disney to stay independent, then the best person is in charge right now. He's been their before and succeed.

Yep. When Eisner was here before, he had Wells to help. And the person to help him this time has left and is trying to kick him out.
