Attention all Eisner haters...

Okay, here's a question or two. Let's assume that Eisner resigns or is otherwise forced out of his position as CEO (Either by Roy or others) and a new CEO (Roy or someone else) assumes the position.

What changes would you expect to see at WDW (the theme parks, not other Disney ventures. That's a topic for another thread). In other words, what has Eisner done so wrong, what is wrong, and how would a new CEO with a supposedly new vision "fix" the parks or otherwise improve them?

No fair making observations or criticisms which are directly or indirectly attributable to factors beyond Eisner's control (e.g. September 11, a weak economy, continuing terrorist threats).

Thoughts?

Well, for one, traditional animation would be kept. And no more budget cuts for anything!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

More work, mainetnence, and money would be put into all the rides/attractions and all of them would have a more "Disney" feel.

Fair enough, but what specifically? Do we know for certain that Eisner has dictated that no maintenance be done to rides (or is this a byproduct of economic factors)?

If the blame is Eisner's, which rides need maintenance/money attention and which rides don't have a "Disney" feel?

Agreed; however, the last time I was there (a few weeks ago) I took a long, hard look at Dino-Rama to see whether it was cheap or is simply themed to appear like a road-side carnival with a "kitchy" feel. I'm undecided, but it is not my favorite area of AK (in fact, I think all of Dinoland is a little suspect).

The fact that he refused to take any sort of paycut event though the company was not doing well. this is before september 11th and just got worse because of it. thats corporate america though. They cut so many jobs to the point where it is making the parks shabby and even dangerous. something needs to change and it should start with him.

Well, Im just sayin gin general that with Big Thunger Mtn. and Space Mountain crashes/problems, it might be a sign that maintainence is slacking off under Eisner's rule.

Some rides I can think of are Test Track (hate that ride and it just doesn't feel Disney-ish), Alien Encounter (reason why it was closed), and Dino-rama! looks way cheap and South of the Border like even thought they spent millions on it...

For one thing, if that were to happen, Walt's dream would be back. That's the most important. Roy, or anyone else, would build on that and not try to govern the company so much to make money.

I think that anyone who calls himself an "Eisner hater" needs to go back and remember the early years of his reign. WDW and Disney in general were great in the 80s and early 90s, due in no small part to Eisner's own contributions.

Unfortunately, the guy has just run out of gas and needs to admit to it and step down.

Whoever takes his place should be very creative and eager to do things a little different. If he weren't so busy presiding over Pixar, I would recommend John Lassiter for the job. Anyone who's watched the bonus materials on Pixar DVDs can see that their employees embody the Disney spirit in every aspect of their daily work life.

Could you imagine the great things that we would experience if the new Disney CEO threw a little caution to the wind and poured all the creative resources he could muster back into the theme parks?

I agree about money for rides, hotels and the animated movies but dont forget about paying your cast members better. And the one main thing that everyone is forgetting is....family!!! Disney World and all the other Disney owned parks are for the family and with Eisner I feel that family values has been sucked out...Walt based his parks and his entertainment on family values which he learned from his life growing up in Missourri and at the Baptist church he attended. So remember "FAMILY"!

Changes I expect to see? Well first of all animation will stay and the Florida department will be back up and running. DCA is going to get a lot of rehabs. In WDW, I hope to see the parks being fixed up (paint, etc.) and new rides being built with big budgets and not small ones. Also, maintenance will hopefully get a big boost.

things i would like to see:
test track running smoothly
clearer parks and attractions while they are at it (i hate to bring up the reaccuring mold story on splash so i won't)
more animation done only at WDW animation studios
Pixar staying along side Disney
changes that need to be done to everything just to desolve everything wrong he did

First WDWhumanmap Roy Jr is not Walts brother, second I think hand drawn animation is dead for now but will make a come back someday. On my last trip to WDW in November Disney maintenance people where everywhere I know because I want to be one, they stick out to me.If Roy takes over someday or his pick as Eisner was in the 80s,and he did save the company then.

About Eisner Haters

I think its totally amazing how "Eisner Haters" blame the "cheapness" of the company during the past few years on Eisner, while Eisner has been at the helm since 1984. These people totally ignore the boost in spending during the years before and the current boost of spending (each of the parks now have an E-ticket ride being constructed). I think the "cheapness" of the company during the past few years, though approved by Eisner, was in reaction to a bad economy and his leiutenants such as Paul Pressler who are no longer in the company,

ROTFL , honey child let me tell you a story...

There were these two cousins, Chester and Hester. Two entrupenuers that weren't that high class. Upon their many ventures they happened upon the Dino Institute and notice it had many visitors. So they decided to set up shop, literally. First came Chester's and Hester's, Tackiest Shop on Earth. Then after a few years, after they had made money of their store they opened Dino Rama, which included their wacky version of Dinosaur the ride (which is Primerval Whirl). The whole point of it, story wise, is to be a campy little roadside amusement area. It's not really meant to be Disneyish.
It's not our area kids. As in our I mean we the hardcore Disney fans. It's more for the families that said they wanted aa bit more to do. Is it the best thing we've seen of cours enot, but it fits the story that was already there (Chester's and Hester's) and it makes kids happy. Plus, I love it when families are leaving the parks with their little dino prizes and I get to make a big deal about congratulating them on their accomplishment.
