I know it's been said here before but--the reason the 20K ride has not been used for something else is due to the structure being unstable. Isn't that the reason 20K was taken out in the first place? So it's my understanding that they cannot do a thing such as adding Little Mermaid stuff in the lagoon. It would mean a completely new construction...not as easy as just adding something to it.

I personally can't believe that Disney has not done anything to that area (except for add the meet and greet). It's really poor. My son asked, "Hey mom what's that?!" And I have to say, "It USED to be a ride, like 10 years ago!" LOL I just think it's kind of sick that it's still just sitting there doing basically nothing.

I wish someone had an official statement as to why it is closed, I always assumed it was cost to run and the fact that it was not handicapped accessible.

OMG - many apologies :D

1) saw the quote about Living Seas, thought water, thought 20,000 Leagues - suppose I should have read all the replies before jumping in (Splash !!)
2) ESP - haven't got that either - but if you have I hear you can get some pretty good drugs to clear it up

No apology necessary. Great minds think alike. I just wish they would do something with that great lake. Or as I said before, make another 20,000 Leagues II.

As for drugs - Nothing like a nice glass of wine after a hard day at the office.

Atlantis at 2000 League Lagoon

I think that something should be done with that area, be it Ariel, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, .....something more than a copper King Triton

This is true about the structure being unstable. They closed the ride because the upkeep was too costly. They were constantly having to repaint and repair the subs because the chlorine in the water was so damaging. Too bad they couldn't re-build it similar to the one in Tokyo since that one doesn't go in the water at all
