The planets spun again for a short period after the 2004 refurb. However, they did not spin after the 2014 refurb. My understanding was that during the 2014 the spinning hardware was removed and the planets were made permanently stationary.
Fair enough. I remember hearing about issues with them but couldn't recall when they last spun. Thanks for the info.

Being closed for 6-7 months...Figuring they count the end of August as "Summer 2025" that is not enough time to do much other then some routine maintenance... If this were going to involve new lighting or any other plussing they would have already had a huge press release, and a 30 minute program with interviews of the Imagineers involved, showing their field trips to NASA and into Outer Space on SpaceX for research... With this amount of time, expect new seatbelts and a cleaning. Take THAT Epic Universe! lol

If they're not going to fix the lighting or planets, they should turn it back into Star Jets

Eh, I think the orrery is conceptually more timeless and therefore preferable, but they should adjust the styling (especially of the antenna and the globe mounts with the repeated circular punch-outs) to bring the style more in line with classic Tomorrowland.

Hopefully they close it and keep it closed. Waste of space.
Waste of space?

It's literally on the third floor over the People Mover load/unload and a quick service restaurant.

By measure of square footage, this may be the most efficiently used plot of land in all of WDW.

There is a spinner that MK could probably be made better by them removing and returning the space it occupies to how it was previously used but it ain't this one.
