My DH and I are planning to go back to WDW in 2007. I was thinking about going either May, November, or December. I hate crowds (less people, more rides for me to go on), and I don't like the heat. I've been to WDW in November and absolutely loved it. What would you recommend? Also, we were thinking about staying more then seven days. We've stayed there for seven days on our last trip. So we were thinking about either staying for ten days or stay at WDW for seven and go to Universal for three days. Which would you think would be better?

We split our trips and spend three days at Universal. It gives hebest of both worlds. We used to go in May, until Mr Blair made it illegal to take kids out of school in term time. The Weather is nice, much more stable than summer, the parks are busy enough to give atmosphere but not over crowded. There is the cance of Star Wars weekends and the Flower Festival too.

have also been late Oct/Nov for Halloween, much quieter you can do everything so much quicker. I did enjoy it but preffer May.

For the past two years my husband and I have spent 6 nights at Disney and 3 nights at Universal. We also love seeing the best of both worlds! Now - since you're probably going to go off-season, you probably won't need 3 nights at Universal. Two would be plenty - especially if you're staying onsite at one of their hotels. I hightly suggest the Hard Rock - It's a GREAT hotel. It's a little pricey, but well worth it since you are so close to the parks and you get the unlimited Express Pass. Anyway, I can't really help you with "when" you should go since I only go during June or July (can't go any other time).

My suggestion - 7 nights at Disney / 2 nights at Universal (on-site if possible). Have fun!:p

As far as the heat, the beginning of May is not bad. I have been in May and I usually go right after Thanksgiving into the beginning of Dec. that way I get the Christmas decorations and the party.

It's still quite warm at that time. They are both good times to go. I would vote for the first week of May though for having less crowds.

We plan to book our '07 trip for May. It was such a beautiful time of year to go, and not very hot at all....and I"ve been in July. :dazzle: But choosing between that and Oct. is hard.

As for Universal...I say do the three days. Or even two, you could do Islands of Adventure one day and Studios the other.

If I could take my daughter out of school for a week we would go the beginning of May all the time, but missing a week of high school is way too much to make-up. We went the first week in May when my daughter was in grade school and loved it. The weather was great - warm, not humid and only rain on two days. The crowds were low and the Flower & Garden displays were great too.

Hmm...I'll have to consider going in May. Is it normally around 70 degrees during May? Does May have less crowds or does the first two weeks of December?

May can also be quite hot. We've been in May when it was in the high 70's - low 80's :) , but this past year we went the weekend before Memorial day and it was mid 90's.
I think I'd prefer late November - early December.

As far as crowds are concerned, the first two weeks of December and the beginning of November are about the best. If you have never been to the World during the Christmas season, you really really should consider December. All of the parks and the hotels really turn it up a notch. Add to that MVMCP, Candelight and Osborne Lights, and it is something you just have to experience.

Temperatures are also at their most moderate...still shorts and t-shirts for us northerners, but maybe a sweatshirt on some nights. (Floridians have out their ski parka's and gloves...). I've been during all seasons except mid-winter, and while each has its unique offerings...I would have to say early December is my favorite.

I also agree with others that 2 days at Universal would be good, also the great convenience of staying at Hard Rock.

November is the best time to visit...it barely ever rains, its the least crowded time to go( if you go before thanksgiving week), and the weather is beautiful. If i were you i'd do all 10 days at disney, but you might wanna do 3 days at Universal just go have something different to do on your vacation. Have a great trip...hope i helped some

It's a toss up for me...

November was so amazing because I'd never had a chance to see the Osborne Spectacle of Lights, or all of Christmas decorations before. It was just breathtaking...weather was nice, high 70's, low 80's three years ago.

Two years ago we went the week before Memorial Day...everyone says it's crowded, but the most we waited in line was 20 min. and that was for Test Track. It was VERY hot a couple of those afternoons, though. The day we went to AK, it was 91 or 92, I think...we were so crabby and tired we went back and napped for three hours and laid in the pool. (And we're 23:) )

I've been at both times of the year. May can get very hot and if you do not like mid 80's during the afternoons, then this might not be the best time. May is also a good time to go for less crowding of the parks.

But I'd say that that best time to go with minimal crowds are during the first two weeks of December. Any later and you will find people are making their get out of work early trips before Christmas officially starts. Also the weather is more predictable. Comfortable for shorts during the day... then windbreakers at night. My main draw for December is the park decorations. They really do a fantastic job with decking out the parks and the resorts. It is a sight to behold if you have never been during that time of year.

So, based on your input... I'd really recommend the first two weeks in December. The 7/3 split of your days at Disney/Univ sounds like a great plan as well.

Any other questions?? Feel free to ask.

My wife and I went to WDW in early May of 2005, and really enjoyed it. The weather was absolutely wonderful, as it only rained on us one night and it was warm enough to swim. The crowds were also very light. I think the longest we waited for anything without a Fastpass was about twenty minutes or so.

Highly recommend this time of year.

Whether to spend 3 of your 10 days at Universal depends on how much money you have to spend, and whether you're interested enough in all of the "minor" attractions at WDW so you wouldn't be bored after 7 days. The way WDW prices its park tickets now, it's virtually free to go to the WDW parks the 8th through 10th days. Your situation is EXACTLY what the marketing folks at Disney had in mind when they dreamed up this pricing scheme.
