Art of Animation - for adults?

I was reading on another site about how Art of Animation is the last place you should stay if you're an adult couple since it's so themed towards kids. I was kinda irritated by that statement, because aren't we all kids when we go to Disney? My husband and I are making our first trip in October since 1997 to Disney and thought we'd do something nice and fun, so we booked a room at AoA. We're going to spend a whole week behaving like kids, so why not stay at a fun resort? Am I wrong to think this other person is being judgemental? Should we stay somewhere else? We can only afford the value resorts.

Disney is full of kids where ever you go. AoA is brand new and looks like a great resort to stay at. If you love disney and are a kid at heart its a perfect resort. Also if your staying in the mermaid section its only regular rooms and not suites like the rest of the resort. So right there its already calmer because you wont have familys of 5 or 6 all around. You will have a great time.

Even if you stayed at the Grand floridian resort there are a bunch of kids in there running around so whats the difference? about 5000.00 dollars lol.

What possible difference does it make if some stranger on the internet said that? Stay where you want to stay.

That other site is failing, impressively. The main thing at AoA is the room you end up in. If you like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, or Cars, who cares how old you are? You'll be happy to be enveloped in a room styled in one of your favorite movies.

That and, if you're like me, you'll only be there to sleep. The parks are where you'll spend most of your time anyway.

I say, boo on that other site. BOO.

1000 TIMES THIS^^^^

If you are an adult that want's what most would consider "a tastefully decorated room" then AoA will not be a place you want to stay. However, if you are like most of the adults around these parts and want over the top Disney theaming coming out of your ears, AoA will be a slice of heaven.

I'm going with two of my best friends in mid july (we are all in our late twenties)... The Little Mermaid & Lion King are movies we grew up on. Seemed like a perfect fit to us. Save yourself the hundreds extra a night and go drink the world a couple times... after a couple countries you wont even realize there are kids around haha. o_O;)

We are 52 and 48 with no children, though my wife says I am the only kid we can afford. We went to AoA last year and loved it. We now spend much more time at resorts than at the parks, and while we prefer deluxe or off site, we had a great time at AoA. By all means go and have a wonderful time.

Just returned from a quick stay at AoA before moving over to AKL. Love the resort. We were even upgraded from a LM to a Cars Suite at check in! The Disney theming is AWESOME! The atmosphere was so much fun. I agree with other posters, if you are looking for the over the top Disney theming then this is definitely the resort for you!

Yeah exactly i would not worry about what anyone says. If your choice is to stay at the AOA then do so. As long as you have a great time for your money who cares what age you act. We always stay at the value resorts, & we are staying at AOA TLM this AUG. Last year we stayed at pop, 2002 ,2010 & 2011 we stayed at movies, 2007 we stayed off property which was a mistake, 2000 we stayed at music. The first 3 YRS going to WDW we had just adults, & now the past 3 years was with DD's , & this year we have a 6 mo. DS. So yeah the point is we are all kids & it don't matter where you stay or what anyone says like the planning videos say be a kid again & have the time of your life.

Obviously whoever said that doesn't understand the idea that Walt Disney World is meant to bring out the kid in all of us.
We went on a cheeky trip over there the other day. We aren't staying there, but we went to have a look because I'd seen some awesome pictures on here and wanted to see it for myself. It's a pretty neat resort. I'd love to stay there.

We visited the resort last September and loved it (and we are far from being children.) The pools are very nice, the food court is truly awesome and the theming made it a blast to walk around and enjoy. Have a magical vacation and come back to let us know what you thought.

Be sure to take a stroll off the beaten path that goes around Hourglass Lake that connects AoA to Pop Century. Very relaxing and carefree.

Not everything is for everyone. Some wouldn't stay at AoA without kids, some would. There isn't One Right Way.

If you want to stay there, do that. :)

I'm going in January with my friend. We are both going to be in college. Where am I looking into staying? Art of Animation. Since it's the newest value resort, I'm expecting it to be a little nicer than the All Star Resorts, plus the pool is huge and looks fun.
