Arriving on time

We are coming to Disney this month, our travel agent has us flying with Delta. We live in Missouri and it shows our flight arrives at 11:36. We have a reservation at 1 pm to eat at the Wave.
We are 1 hr before Florida time. Would the flight arrival time be on my time or Florida time?
Want to make sure we get to the restaurant in plenty of time.

You better hope they are launching you on a shuttle in from Cape Canaveral if you want to make your reservation. It is a huge airport at Orlando International and usually take anywhere from 20-30 minutes to get your luggage. You would have roughly a half hour drive to WDW property after you get on your transportation. You may have to wait on everyone to load too. I hope you make it but I am thinking it would be tough.

Good luck. I would say your chances are somewhere between, slim, none and absolute zero. From the time our flight lands until we are at the resort usually takes a solid 2 hours between luggage, rental cars, travel, etc...

I say, if your MIL set it up, and your husband told you not to worry, then don't worry about it. You could be cutting it close... And they might take you either way. But, it looks like you're the only one concerned, so you did your best. If you don't make it, it's on them!

I would sit back and enjoy your upcoming trip to WDW!! Wooooo hooooooo!!

Welcome to the Disney Board and Have a Magical Time in Disney....:cat:
My recommendation to you would be to change the time of your reservation. If you land at 11:36, by the time you deplane it will be at least 11:45 and that is pushing things. It is a bit of a walk to Disney Magical Express and then you need to wait for your bus. You could probably get on the bus by 12:30 is you are lucky. The drive to the hotel, and I am assuming that you are staying at the Contemporary because that is where The Wave is, will take about 30-40 minutes providing that you do not stop at any other hotels for drop offs. We have waited about 15-20 minutes for the bus to leave the airport for the hotel. This is also a very busy time at Disney so lots of people will want to get on that bus. Why would you want to start your Disney Vacation with so much stress. I like The Wave, but it is not worth stressing myself out to get there, especially when every part of the trip there is out of my hands. Change the time.....shouldn't be a big problem so you can relax. Even though your husband said...."don't worry about it"....you know you are or you wouldn't be writing on this board. So relax, change the reservation time and enjoy every part of your trip, including you Disney Magical Express........

It wouldn't hurt to try and change it.
I have had mixed experiences with wait times at Magical Express.
Assuming your flight is on time and you immediately deplane...
Our first stop is always.....The Bathroom! (11:55)
When you deplane you have to get oriented and take a monorail from the gates to the Main Terminal. (12:00)?
Then you have to get to Magical Express on the lower levels (for some reason it always takes longer than it should to find it/get there.) (12:10)
Next they have to check you in.(12:15)
After you get to your bus line a lot of factors come into play.
Did a bus just leave? If its just pulling up and you are one of the first ones on they will wait until it is full or wait for the people they are expecting based on reservations. The chances of you getting right on a bus and pulling out almost immediately are slim. (12:30 at best?) We have waited for a bus ad on the bus between 20 minutes and 45 minutes total.
Then you have the 30-40 minute bus ride.

I would try to get a later time. If you get lucky and get there early, you can check in and freshen up or walk around the resort and if the plane is delayed or you have a long wait for the DME, you won't be completely stressed out on the way down. If you don't show up on time, they could charge your credit card (I think its $10 per person).

Have a great trip!

I'll be honest, I've never flown into the Orlando airport and I've never taken the Disney Magical Express but I know where the airport is and I know how airport shuttles run in other cities with major airports, with that said, I don't see you making it there in time. I'm 99% positive you won't. Their is just too much out of your control here.

First of all you have to make sure your flight leaves on time to even have a chance of arriving on time. Secondly, depending on where you're sitting on the plane will be the difference on how fast you can get off of it, this is any where from 5-15min. Thirdly, you have to walk to the DME bus, get on and it has to leave. I've always been told this process takes anywhere from 30-60 minutes by itself, just depends on how many people its picking up. Fourth, it has to make the 20-30min drive to WDW and finally, once on Disney property it may not go straight to your resort, you may be the 1st stop, the 3rd or the 5th.

Short answer, I'd move the time back absolutely.

BUT on the second thought, idk how close you are to your MIL but since she planned this unless you really wanna eat at the wave don't worry about it.

PS, third thought, if you don't make it to your reservation you get charged $10 per person in the party.

I told MIL about it. She doesn't think she will get charged since a travel agent has planned all of it. And she said the restaurant knows we are coming from the airport. Since she knows the details, she might call the agent on Monday and see what's going on.

Reservations require a CC to back them up. So if your late or a no show, you will be charged $10 per person, regardless of who booked it.
We were late to a reservation when a magic kingdom bus didn't show up for almost an 1 hour to our resort, we called the restaurant and they told us, if we were more than 30 minutes late, we would be charged and possible not have seats anymore. We did make it just at the 30 minute mark, ate dinner, and still got charged. They were kind enough to remove it but it took a few days to get the refund and 30 minutes of our vacation on the phone. So regardless of where you're coming from, they will still charge you. It takes us an average of 1 1/2-2 hours to get from the plane to arriving at our resort. Resorts share buses, so you could be the last stop of 3 or 4 resorts adding significant time to how long it takes.
I would try for atleast 1:45 and if you arrive early, they should have no problem seating you.
